Cleve touched many people through his business. I am one of those. We made him an "honorary" Yellow Jacket for attending so many of our functions, making sure we were all sufficiently stuffed! Cleve will be missed greatly by the community. Our sympathies to Maxanne and the family.

I grew up with Cleve in Belvedere. His daddy had a grocery store, barbeque business and was the Postmaster. I remimber Mr. Edmunds when he went to write something, he would make 5 or 6 circles with his pen before he would start to write. He had a black man named "Shorty" that cooked his BBQ. Shorty was about four feet tall. Shorty had a sister named "Silbil" who was also about four feet tall. Silbil washed clothes for people. I can remember going by her house as a kid and she boiled the clothes outside in a big cast iron pot, fired by wood. When she finished washing the clothes she would hang them on tree branches to dry. Many, many times she passed my house with a huge bundle of clothes balanced on her head. I haven't seen Cleve in many years but his image is vivid in my miy mind. My sincerest condolences to his family.

I first met Cleve at Mount Vintage Grill where I worked and later, for a short period of time was one of his employees at his bar-b-que restaurant . What a kind, generous and thoughtful Southern gentleman he was - a perfect example of Southern culture. His legacy will live on through Stevan and his employees. I am fortunate to have encountered such a kind soul. May God bless his family and friends...he is now at Peace awaiting the rest of us.
