George Myles Obituary
A native of Augusta, Georgia, George Myles was a football and basketball star at his beloved T.W. Josey High School. He attended Morris Brown College on a football scholarship, and met his number one cheerleader, his future wife, Jacqueline Williams. Upon graduation, he was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1970.
During the course of his career, George served in the Florida National Guard, was a General Manager of the flagship Sears in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, Commissioner for the City of Lauderhill and served on the boards of numerous community organizations such as the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and Urban League of Broward County.
He is survived by his wife, of 46 years, Jacqueline Williams Myles, a retired educator; three daughters, Tequisha, Kendyll, and Kersti Myles; one grandchild, Savannah; sister, Fossteen Reese (Ellenwood, GA); brother, Michael Myles (Augusta, GA); aunt, Juanita Phillips (Decatur, GA); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in honor of George Frank Myles payable to the George Frank Myles, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. Donations can be mailed to 7635 Stirling Bridge Blvd., N. Delray Beach, FL 33446. The family has established a scholarship fund to help student athletes attend a Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).
