Julia was my friend/sister. I have so many fond memories of us working together at the hospital. She was my mentor and encouraged and challenged my clinical thinking to get it right. You will never be forgotten! RIP Julia.

Julia's enthusiasm for social work radiated from her voice, her smile, and her eyes. Her face beamed as she welcomed our group of first year graduate students into her fold. Sitting in her beaming presence we told in no undertain terms that social work was the most exciting and noble calling to which one could possibly aspire. Julia's conviction and embrace rivaled the most powerful evangelist.
Teaching others to help others was Julia's mission. It was impossible not to recognize the religous zeal in Julia Hamilton. She was a true believer and a powerful force for good.
Even as she suffered the indignities of rapidly diminishing health, her smile continued to convey an undimmed energy.
She once confided in me that she gave up the joys of having a family to devote herself wholly to this calling. Her students and staff were her family. We loved her--and the even smaller number who understood her blind ambition for helping others--will continue her efforts, even if our energies pale in comparison to hers.
Rest in peace, Julia, for you rarely rested in life and your work will be continued by those you nurtured.

To the family of Dr. Julia Hamilton. I was one of her Social Work students from Southern Connecticut State University. I will always remember her smile, her presence and her tolerance of others. Most importantly I will also remember the numerous barriers that Dr. Hamilton has overcome being an African American female Social Worker. I will always remember her story of asking her father why she could only drink the "colored" water, because she was curious to see what it taste like and if it was different from the "non-colored" water. It is my plan to email the Dept heads at SCSU to see what they plan on doing to honor the Legacy of Dr. Julia Hamilton. May her spirit rest in peace and her legacy live on

Julia was my mentor, friend and confidant for over 24 years. Julia was truly an Essence woman beautiful on the inside and outside. She strived to help children, families, women to have better lives, greater opportunities. She worked for over 30 years as a Social Work manager, teaching social workers how to practice, teaching the medical team how to communicate. Julia will be missed. She had so much love in the New Haven community which was her adopted community. She was my sister for life. To the family, you have my deepest sympathy.

To the family of our dearly beloved Julia: You have our sincere and deepest sympathy at this time of sorrow. Our hearts are heavy, but our memory of Julia consoles us in knowing that she was beloved by many, and especially those who worked with her and shared in her profession. I know Julia because our families were connected in Augusta, Georgia. We connected again as she worked as a Clinical Instructor in Nursing; Social Worker/Pediatrics, Yale-New Haven Hospital. We were graduates of the same high school, Lucy Craft Laney; but God connected us again in New Haven. She and her mother shared meals at my home when her mother would visit her. She was a productive a vibrant contributor to the lives of many in New Haven
May God Bless the family,

To Clarke,George and other family members:
My deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences in the loss of Julia Pearl. We shared so many wonderful experiences at Laney and beyond. As Girl Scout leaders we relied on each other's sanity and sense of humor to get us through girl scout camp successfully. We were hired at the same, and rode to school(work)together.
Take comfort in the knowledge that She is in God's presence, and may that same presence surround, comfort, and strengthen you now and in the days to come.

Julia Pearl and I were high school classmates at Laney. Her beauty was both internal and external. She was an excellent student and was very approachable and friendly. Our memories of Julia will be a source of comfort for us as we remember her many spiritual and intellectual gifts. We love you Julia.
