RIP uncle Luer. I wanted to say thank you for teaching me how to shoot guns and a crossbow and the safety behind it. you also taught me a lot bout WW2 that i never learned about before in school, but the most most important thing you taught me was how my uncle Jim was a boos on the job. i knew him as uncle who taught me pool how to cut fire wood and took me to events such as Mule day and the Oliver and Hardy festival and a tour on the Fort Gordon base but knowing that you and Jim knew each other was really awesome. at first i thought you were going to take his spot as and uncle and you didn't and that is what earned my respect as not only a friend relationship but an uncle and nephew relationship. the past 2 years have been an awesome journey for us both and for that I want to thank you for that. I love you uncle Luer you will be missed but never forgotten. Your nephew Wes Moore
PS say hey to uncle Jim for me

I remember Luer well and we were friends. We worked at Fort Gordon in the old 31J course. Luer was a lover of life and it was such an adventure being in his presence. I haven't had an opportunity to see him in many years. My deepest condolences to his family.

A friend from my old neighborhood. A big fellow with a big wit and smile. The family deli was always on the list of places to visit and eat on all returns visits to Augusta.
I regret as we so often do that I didn't have a chance to see him recently.

I knew Luer through my grandmother, Estelle Redmond, who was also a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. To his family, I offer sincere condolences, as he was taken too soon. I will remember his kindness and zest for life.
