Michael O'Hagan Obituary

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. - Michael Keith O'Hagan, 50, departed this world Sunday, March 18 in Fernandina Beach, Florida. A native and longtime resident of Fernandina Beach, he was born September 1, 1961 to James Lawrence OHagan Jr. and Rebecca Fiveash O'Hagan. Michael was the second of their three children. He attended St. Mary's on The Hill Catholic School and Westside High School in Augusta, GA. He graduated from Aiken Technical College in 1984. Michael began his career as a Journeyman Electrician in Augusta GA. After several years, he made his home in Fernandina Beach FL. He served in the United States Navy from 1988 - 1990 as a Quartermaster Grade 3 in Navigation. He was a submarine crew member of the USS Pennsylvania, prior to its commissioning stationed at Kings Bay, Georgia. During his enlistment he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Strategic Deterrent Patrol Pen, and Battle Efficiency E. Following the Navy, Michael returned to Fernandina Beach where he continued his career as a Journeyman Electrician which included several commercial construction projects: the Federal Courthouse in Jacksonville, FL. Carlton Dunes on Amelia Island, FL and the Winn Dixie warehouse in Baldwin, FL were some of the few he assisted in completing. Michael loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, but above all he enjoyed spending quality time with his children and family who he so dearly loved. Michael always showed courage in difficult times and we know he is now at peace. He is survived by sons Ryan O'Hagan and Robby O'Hagan and his daughters Shannon O'Hagan and Christi O'Hagan, his mother Rebecca Fiveash O'Hagan, brother James L O'Hagan 111 and sister Dana (McCoy) O'Hagan. He was predeceased by his father, James L O'Hagan Jr in 2010. A memorial service will be held in St. Michaels Catholic Church at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 24th, Rev. Jose Kallukalam to officiate. A reception will follow immediately at the home of Dana and Kevin McCoy. Interment at Bosque Bello Cemetery will be held at a later date.
