North Augusta , SC—Lt. Ralph Jenkins, 60, of North Augusta, SC, husband of Valarie Watson Jenkins, entered into rest on Friday, May 21, 2021.
Born in and a resident of Augusta, GA, most of his life, he had made North Augusta, SC, his home since 2012. Lt. Jenkins, 223, dedicated over forty years of his life to serving members of the community as a Firefighter with the Augusta Fire Department. For many years on his days off from the Fire Department, he worked with Walton Rehab and also had his own lawn care business. Ralph enjoyed fishing, helping folks, grilling and cooking. He was a mentor to many young people, especially young firefighters. His attention to detail was second to none. Vehicles were always kept immaculate. Even the rims and tires on his boat trailer were polished and shined.
In addition to his wife, family members include his parents, the late Wilbur and Beatrice Robinson Jenkins, children, Antwann Mario Hudson, Augusta, GA, Jovan Jenkins Rogers and her husband, Thavion, Hephzibah, GA, Jennifer Dyanna Kennedy and her husband, Cory, Graniteville, SC and Kejah McKnight, North Augusta, SC and the late William "Little Billy" McKnight, siblings and their spouses, Capt. Wilbur, Jr. and Victoria Jenkins, Augusta, GA, the late Lannis Jenkins, Terry and Katie Jenkins, Augusta, GA, William E. and Toria Jenkins, Augusta, GA, Mary Chavis, Augusta, GA and Evelyn B. and Mike Utley, North Augusta, SC; former wife and still friend, Carlean Lavoris Jenkins and grandchildren, Demond Rogers and Anaeyah Rogers, Jacoryen Kennedy, Ja'kaylah Kennedy and William I. McKnight as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, May 29, 2021, from 4 until 7 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway Graniteville, SC. A graveside service with Firefighters honors will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2021, at 11 o'clock in the Walker Memorial Park, Augusta, GA.. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Lt. Daniel Rigdon, Lt. Jonathan Guilfoyle, Capt. Richard Johnson, Sgt. Travis Petrea, FF Joshua Davis and Lt. Eddie Hightower. Honored to serve as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Augusta Fire Department.
