What a great loss in Mr. Sam, but what a great time the Father is having listening to that wonderful laugh. We were shocked when we received the notice today in the mail from Milton-Ruben. We had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Sam when we bought a jeep and a concord from him. What a great man and he was just bubbling over with his faith. May God bless his family and comfort them during this time of their loss, but know all the rejoicing that is going on in heaven.

To the family of Mr. Samuel Harris Sr.:

Please allow me to express my deepest sympathy in the loss of a man, who was truly a gift to all those who knew him. Mr. Harris sold me my very first car almost eight years ago and on November 21, 2002 sold me my second car, a PT Cruiser. Mr. Harris was professional, stern, and well respected by his co-workers, but had the heart of an angel when I first met him and even more of the same when we were reacquainted in November at the dealership. I last saw and spoke with Mr. Harris on February 11, 2003 at Milton Ruben and he mentioned to me he would be out for a few days having a medical procedure done and if I needed anything who I should contact. I gave him a hug, thanked him for everything he had done for me and told him he would be in my prayers. He shook my 4 year old son's hand and told him to take care of his momma. My son looked Mr. Harris in the eye as he shook his hand, because that is what Mr. Harris taught him back in November when he first me him and said, "yes sir". My son asked me if we were going to "Chrysler" to see Mr. Harris (Wednesday, February 19, 2003) and I said, "no Mr. Harris is probably home resting because he had to go to the doctor". It wasn't until I received the Memorial tribute to Mr. Harris from Milton Ruben on Friday, February 21, 2003 that I knew God had come to take him home. I mourn with you because he had a giving heart and spirit that will truly be missed. But I feel comfort in knowing God has called one of his angels home to watch over your family and all the lives Mr. Harris touched over the years. May God Bless and Keep you always. To my classmate Iris, and the entire Harris family, our hearts are heavy as we offer prayers for you. Sammy was always such a joy to be around. With the passing of my brother, Gene, this past December Sammy visited us several times bringing his joy and laughter to make the tough times easier. Iris, you have always been there for me during these times and I want you to know that we are here for you and your family. Jeremiah 31:13 says, "I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow". Be comforted in knowing that Sammy, who was a husband, brother, and father, was also a good and faithful friend to many.

Sam Harris was a rare individual who touched lives and made people laugh. I consider him a friend, even though I saw him only when it was time to trade cars. In the past decade, I bought 5 cars from him; I always asked for Sam when it was time to close the deal. He was that special. My wife and I will miss Sam. He was a special man. God bless his family.

Dear Bonnie,

Randall and I leased or bought five Jeeps from Sam. We loved him very much and will dearly miss him. He was one of the most Godly, spiritual men I knew. He is truly in heaven now. I have a few "Sam" stories. The last Jeeps we bought from him were before Thanksgiving 2002 about a week apart. We bought an 02 and 03. He gave us his personal PT Cruiser for the day. It was great fun and I felt an awesome responsibility to have Sam's personal car. I admired his integrity so much. He got me to upgrade to leather seats and all the amenities of the Limited. He was just the best. I talked to him about our child and he was always quick to show photos of his grandchildren. You know, he was ready to go. He was content with himself and Jesus. We will always remember him with great love and affection. May God continue to bless you and your family. I wish that I could be at the funeral today, but you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Gosh Rene, can you imagine what your dad is seeing right now! No more sickness, no more pain, and streets paved in gold! What a sight to behold. He is sooo much better off than the rest of us. One thing that I will remember about your father is that, without a doubt, he made the BEST lemmonade I have ever tasted! You and your family are in my prayers.

SAMMY WAS A GOOD, HONEST, TRUE FRIEND WHO I WILL MISS VERY MUCH. TINA, MY DAUGHTER, WAS ALSO UPSET WHEN SHE HEARD OF HIS DEATH. HE WAS LOVED BY US. YOUR SORROW IS SHARED BY US. A GREAT MAN IS WITH "MISS SUSIE".

February 18, 2003

To Beloved wife, Bonnie and Family. I would like to take this time to express to you my condolences for the loss of Sammy. I have known Sammy for over fifty years. As a matter of fact, I was with him when he first met you. Sammy and Cornell were the brothers that I never had when I was growing up. Sammy and I shared so many good times together! I have spent the night over Sammy's and Cornell's house plenty of times when I was growing up. I ate at their house almost every Sunday. When Sussie Mae fixed a plate for them, she also fixed one for me. The last time Sammy and I were in church together, he testified with tears coming from his eyes...about the good times he and I had when we were growing up. Surely things will not be the same now that Sammy is gone...because we will all miss him. You have our love and our prayers during this most difficult time.

God bless you,

Elder George Williamson

Words of Consolation

God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Matthew 5:4 NLT

To all who mourn in Israel, he will give beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning, praise instead of despair. For the LORD has planted them like strong and graceful oaks for his own glory.

Isaiah 61:3 NLT

All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. You can be sure that the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 NLT

Making it Personal

Whatever the cause, let your mourning push you toward the Savior. You will be blessed.

May God Continue to Lead and Guide you all, during this time of sorrow!

My Thoughts are with the Family of Sam - I only knew him from the Dealership, so I can only speak of him from that perspective - Never has there been a more enjoyable Person to speak with, or to do Business with - He will be sorely missed by me and I'm sure many, many others.

I will surely miss Mr. Sam from the dealership. I bought my first Neon from there and got to know Mr. Sam. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Mr. Sam, your family and friends. I wish that I would have been able to see you one more time. Well, I know that you are gone, but your spirits are still with me always and forever.
