William E. "Bill" Knotts Jr.

WILLISTON, S.C. - Services for William E. 'Bill' Knotts, Jr., 82, will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2005 at the First Baptist Church, Williston, with burial in the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Folk Funeral Home, Williston. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the Williston First Baptist Church Organ Fund, P.O. Box 366, Williston, S.C. 29853. Mr. Knotts died on Friday. Born in Swansea, S.C., he was a son of the late William E. Knotts, Sr. and Louwertha Keadle Knotts. Mr. Knotts attended schools in Swansea, Gainesville, Fla., and the University of South Carolina. He was former owner of Williston Telephone Co., Home CATV Co., and Bill Knotts Realty Co. He was former seven term mayor of Williston, S.C., S.C. Senator of District #8, and served as a Commissioner on the SC Highway Department. He also served as a President of Williston Development Corp., Director of S.C. State Chamber of Commerce, Vice President and Director of S.C. Independent Telephone Association, Past Master of Hope Masonic Lodge #126 AFM, Past Worthy Patron of Ackerman Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, former Jaycees and Lions Club member, member of Williston First Baptist Church, Jamil Shrine Temple and Elks Club. Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, James H. and Nadia M. Knotts of St. Matthews; wife, Betty Traylor Knotts of Williston; and former wife, Cleo K. Knotts of Williston; son, Ronald E. Knotts, Sr. of Williston; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara K. and William M. Hogle of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Judy K. and Paul F. Lochner of Kankakee, Ill., Cynthia B. and J.
