Nellie Peterson

Nellie J. Petersen, age 85, of Yorkville, IL, passed away unexpectedly, on Wednesday, June 8, 2015 at her home in Yorkville, IL. She was born on January 9, 1930 in Stafford, NE, the daughter of Roy and Eleanor (Appleby) Tubbs. Nellie was united in marriage on February 1, 1948 to Mr. Lloyd L. Petersen and they spent the next 50 happy years of their lives together until his passing on September 21, 1998. Mrs. Petersen was a long time member of Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville, IL. Nellie enjoyed volunteering at both the Kendall County Food Pantry and Senior Services Associates, INC. at the Beecher Center, both in Yorkville, IL. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Lloyd "Rusty" (Linda) Petersen of Norfolk, NE, Jerry (Carol) Petersen of Malaga, WA, Don (Raelene) Petersen of Sherwood, WI, and Robin (Mark) Guzman of Yorkville, IL; her eight grandchildren, Michelle (Greg) Reeson, Mark (Cindy) Petersen, Don Petersen, Shawn (Jill) Petersen, Melissa Petersen, Jenelle (Butch) Link, Carly (Doug) Williams, and Lindsey Guzman; 10 great-grandchildren; her brother, Ralph Tubbs of FL; three sisters, Lettie Krugman of NE, Myrna Wolf of NE, and Eleanor (Robert) Lee of MO; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Eleanor Tubbs; her husband, Lloyd Petersen; her daughter, Peggy Sue Petersen; a great-granddaughter; a sister; and three brothers. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory, 1617 N. Bridge St., Yorkville, IL with Pastor Erik Gauss, officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook, IL.
