Barbara Rule Obituary
Phoenix - Barbara Ann Rule, 85 from Phoenix, Arizona passed away October 11, 2018 surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She grew up in Eagle, Colorado where she met and married James Rule, they were married for 56 years.
She is survived by her sister Nancy Rule (Larry), her son James Rule (Lisa), her daughter Julie Coulter (Bill). Her grandchildren Ryan Coulter (Karen), Lindsay Iles (Tom), Carrie Coulter, James Rule (Whitney), Heather Crawford (Will), Kim Rohr (Bill), Richard Brannon (Cynthia), Daniel Brannon (Alma), seventeen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, cousins.
After moving to Phoenix in 1966 Barbara went to work for Tolland, MacFarland Opthomology (Affiliated Eye Surgeons) where she retired in 1996. She is preceded in death by her father Thomas Doran, her mother Kim Doran, her husband James Rule, her sister Janet Geist and her daughter Joni Lenox.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. with a Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street, Phoenix.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower, Phoenix, AZ 85014. Condolences may be expressed at www.whitneymurphyfuneralhome.com

Dear Jimmy and Julie, so sorry to hear of your moms passing. I have very fond memories of your family. We lived on apple blossom lane. My mom died in May of this year and dad in 2017. We have a home in Lake Havasu City, took mom to meet your mom in Parker sending the picture of two beautiful ladies.

Rich and I have fond memories of Barb. Her tender loving care of her Trailing Hoya plant will be part of our memories forever, especially considering she gave us a clipping with instructions of care some years ago. We still have the clipping from her Hoya plant that has sprouted. It even blooms deep purple flowers for us on occasion. Barb lived life with care and love that is likened to the love she had for her plants. All will miss her. Hugs to Julie and Jim,
