I'm one of the blessed people that received one of Barry's organs. I remember my doctor saying that Barry's liver was the healthiest he had ever seen.
Almost nine years later I'm still taking care of this gift of life and after 13 years of being sick I'm now a healthy man because of Barry.

Not a day goes by where I don't remember you. You were an excellent friend and an asset to the unit; I only wish I could've attended your final hours. Barry my beloved son, it has been too long since I spoke to you last I was looking at your pictures the other day and noticed one of your favorite car the 66 Mustang and yes it brings back memories, beleive me when I say you are truly missed in the family. Many times it is difficult to look back on that day and wonder how much greater you could have been. Your mother and I talk to you every day. Amber is doing a great job with Kyler you would be proud.

The strength of his spirit never left him during our tour in Iraq. While many of us struggled on a day to day basis, he always smiled and carried on no matter what. Under those cicumstances that is a rare virtue.

I had the pleasure of deploying with Barry to Iraq from 2005-2006. I can honestly say that i cannot remember him ever being in a bad mood. He would walk around with a grin to win! Thats how i will remember Barry! My prayers are with his whole family, and epecially his wife and baby boy!

I will love you forever and you will live on forever. You were a very compasionate person to everyone and especially to children all the kids seem to want to play with you, you would alway's lend a hand. I liked it when you were alway's inquisitive and asked lot's of questions, you had the right mind to do the right thing and the Phoenix Police Dept. was your calling where you could do the most good for your community. I attended his funeral this past weekend and I couldn't believe how great of a person Barry was. The world lost an incredible man, solider, officer, and HERO. My prayers are with his family. Never having lost a child, I can not comprehend how to cope with such a tragedy. A parent should never have to burry a child, a child of any age. I was always told that the order of things are that parents go first….but things do happen and children do pass away before there parents. In my life time I have felt the loss of many close friends and relatives. But then I realize that I still carry the memory of those that I have lost, and in my mind and in my heart they are still alive. So take heart in knowing that Barry will never be lost to you or your family, friends and anyone he touched with his life. You raised a fine young man, and that is what will be remembered. It's difficult to come into briefing and not see your smiling face sitting in front of me. Every night you were clearly happy to be there. I know I speak for the whole squad when I say that you will be greatly missed. We are working through this, and we will continue to support eachother however, there will always be a void that cannot be filled.
You truly are a hero, in every meaning of the word. I have so much respect for you and everything that you have done for your country and community.
It is an honor to have known you, and a pleasure to have worked with you.

I will miss you very much. Who knew your time with us would end so soon. I can only hold on to the wonderful memories you left us with. I still rememeber the time grandpa asked you to lead us in prayer, you must have been about 7-years old. You prayed for Batman and Robin, we all cracked up. YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED,.. YOU WERE NOT ONLY A HERO IN IRAQ BUT A HERO IN THE EYES OF THOSE WHO KNEW YOU... YOU WERE AN INSPIRATION TO THOSE THAT FOLLOWED IN YOUR FOOT STEPS AND A BREATH A FRESH AIR BECAUSE YOUR COURAGE AND SMILE ALWAYS FIRST IN YOUR DAILY DOINGS... ONLY GOD HAD A GREATER PLAN FOR YOU AND DECIDED HE NEEDED AND EXTRA WARRIOR IN HEAVEN TO DEFEND US HERE ON EARTH FROM THE HEAVENS. I CAN SEE HIM NOW TAKING THE LEAD WITH ALL THE OTHER ANGELS... I WILL GREATLY MISS YOU AND THE CHARMING YOUNG MAN YOU GREW UP TO BE.. I REMEMBER THE DAY WE HAD BREAKFAST AT THE CRACKER BARREL AND YOU TALKED TO US ABOUT ALL YOUR PLANS... IT JUST BROUGHT ME GREAT PRIDE TO SEE WHAT AND INTELLIGENT YOUNG MAN YOU TURNED OUT TO BE... I REMEMBER THE MANY TIMES IN CHURCH YOU GOT UP TO SING CHILDRENS HYMNS WITH THE REST OF YOUR COUSINS JOANNA BETO, FRANKIE, ANNETTE, ASHLEY AND PRICILA, LIL ELI, JULIE AND LILY AND TO SEE HOW MUCH JOY YOU HAD AND FUN. IT BRINGS ME TO SMILE AT THE MEMORY YOU BROUGHT..YOUR MOTHER RUTH WILL MISS YOU WHOLE HEARTEDLY... YOU WERE HER WORLD AND PRIDE...THE SORROW SHE NOW FEELS WILL ALWAYS LEAVE A VOID IN HER HEART BUT THE 22 YEARS OF MEMORIES WILL HELP FILL IT... YOU WERE HER SON AND ONLY A MOTHER KNOWS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT... SO I HOPE AMBER REMEMBERS THAT WHEN SHE IS FACED IN MAKING DECISIONS FOR HER SON IN THE FUTURE SHE WILL REMEMBER THE UNSELFISH LOVE THAT COMES ALONG WITH BEING A MOTHER... RUTH WILL MISS HER SON GREATLY BUT WILL HAVE THOSE MEMORIES ALWAYS.... LOVE YOU MY LIL BARRY, SON, SOLDIER, HUSBAND, FATHER, BROTHER. YOU WILL BE SORELY MISSED... We are so very sorry about the tragic loss of your dearly beloved son Barry. We never met him but know how very proud you were to be his parents and I somehow feel we missed meeting someone very special.
