Chris, old man, you're still gone, so what's up with that? I know I still talk to you occasionally, though not as often as I have in the past. I'll try to do better this next year. I'm getting a little loopy now I'm in my early 70s, and you'd get a laugh out of that. You'd challenge me, I know that, which is the thing I miss most with you gone. Yours is still the thorniest intellect I've ever come across. I know you don't believe in the customary cosmology, so try to give me a little clue about what's going on around the corner from reality if you can, brother. As I have said before, I miss you.

Sherye, Kenzie and family,
We were so sorry to hear of Chris's passing. We remember going to your wedding, seeing your new houses (2) and meeting your little baby girl, Mackenzie. You are in our prayers for comfort and healing during this time. Rest assured, Chris is with his King in Heaven. We'll visit with you all at his service tomorrow. Love to all and God bless. Beginning with my days in the House of Representatives, I have worked with and admired Chris Gordon, and never more so than in these last years of illness. When we were in the Secretary of States Office, Chris would bring his "little" daughter Mackenzie to visit. It was fun to watch her grow and become the lovely young lady she is today.
In the Governor's office Chris again, with unfailing good humor, kept us up with the fast changing technology that we all expected at our fingertips. Chris Gordon loved his
wife, Sherye, and Mackenzie; his family, his state office family..his Water Resources family, and his many friends. He was always interested in what was new, what was current, what was going on in state government and how funny the current "Dilbert" cartoon was. I will continue to read it and think of Chris Gordon, the strength, the humor, the "techie" and a good friend. May God be with you Chris, and please keep Heaven laughing!

Sherye--I am truly sorry to learn of Chris' passing and his (and your) suffering under the weight of his disease. If the memorial service is open to guests, I would like to attend and pay my respects representing those in Governor Hull's service who loved Chris and the joy he brought to our work. Our love, and prayers are with Sherye and his kids (Mackenzie and Jesse) in this time of sorrow. Our prayers are that God will surround his entire family and provide comfort and love.

Chris, you checked out without even a wave!
You suffered terribly. I know that and I am sorry. You are, in so many ways, my hero.
You are also one of the best friends I've ever had. You and I sat and talked for hours and hours, each knowing the other's thought trail. It didn't matter that no one else understood us. Now, I don't have anyone to sit in the chair across from me.
When something like this happens, it's natural to say, "I meant to visit more often than I did." But we did have some good times in the last few years, especially on your boat up at the lake.
What I really wish today is we lived in the same neighborhood so I could have been of more help on a daily basis.
Our friendship has only been interrupted. We will hook up down the line a bit. Until then, amigo, thanks for being in my life.

Sherye-I am praying for you as you heal from this loss. I know Chris was so sick for so long, and that his battle was shared by both of you. I'll continue to pray for wisdom for you over the next several months as you adjust to your "new normal." Sending a hug...
