Darrell Ray Obituary

Ray, Darrell "Dean" D.D.S.
85, of Sun City West, AZ passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2013 with his family by his side. Dr. Ray moved to Arizona in 1996 following a long and fulfilling dental practice in Shenandoah, Iowa where his patients marveled at his ability to make a trip to the dentist fun. Dr. Ray received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1956. Before beginning his professional career, Dean grew up in a small farming community in Northwest Missouri. He met the love of his life and wife of 60 years, at Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri after finishing his military service in the United States Navy. He was beloved by his family and will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched with his love, support and generosity. He is survived by his wife, his children David of Ft. Morgan, Colorado; Cynthia Odom (John) of Glendale, Arizona; and Michelle Matheson (David) of Cave Creek, Arizona. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Wednesday January 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Lord of Life Lutheran Church 13724 W. Meeker Blvd., Sun City West, AZ 85275. I just learned of the good Doctor's passing. Dr. Ray was a dear and important man in my life as he was my first dentist going back to 1958. He was such an asset to our communtiy of Shenandoah and to our family. He will be greatly missed.
