I'm going to miss you old friend.
You were one of a kind. I'll always remember our trip to the DMZ in Korea- you knew more about the history of the place than the guides.
Rest in peace.

I have known darren for 11 years but unfortunately moved out of socttsdale and have not seen him for nearly six of those years. I remember him to be handsome, sweet, intellegent, genuine and most of all a great friend. I am saddened by his death and hope his family finds the strength to focus on the many great years they
had with darren and to always talk of their fond memories to keep him present in their lives. My sincere sympahthy.

Darren,
I am still in shock and stunned. I met you a few years back when you moved into the hood. You became an instant friend, a wonderful neighbor, and someone I truly loved. When you left the hood, you were missed, now that you are gone my heart aches and I miss you so much. I am thankful for the memories you left me, your ability to always put your foot in your mouth, the things you taught me, and for always being a dear friend. No words can express how I feel and what you meant to me. You will never be forgotten and will always have a special place in my heart and your beautiful face eched in my mind.
To Darrens family and friends-we were all blessed to have him in our lives and I am so sorry for your loss.
I love n miss you Big Guy!

To Darren's Family,
My deepest condolences to you all. I was so shocked and saddened by this news. I met Darren about 8 years ago during my work with the Culinary Program at The Art Institute of Phoenix and was impressed with him from the start. His passion for the culinary industry, for continuing education and his caring manner with students made such a positive difference. I considered Darren not only a wonderful colleague but a good friend. He will be sorely missed.

Life can be so unfair. It seems that those who have a gift to affect so many with their infectious personalities and shine when they enter a room, are taken from us before their time. Unfortunately, I never formally met Darren, but knew of him. I know his parents and am deeply saddened by the emptiness and loss they have experienced. We can not always make a difference in life, and we admire those like the Leites. How fitting that is their last name, it is very appropriate to the way they shine in their giving and unselfish ways. I salute the memory of you Darren and the two loving people who raised you.

Darren,
I will miss you my wise and trusted friend. You were more than a friend in many ways you were my mentor. You were always just a phone call away and that is what makes this so hard for everyone. You helped me through many difficult times and for that I thank you, but I am most greatfull for the many good times we shared.
God Bless you my friend,
Big Chief Halvorsen

Darren will truly be missed. It was wonderful to grow up in the neighborhood with Darren and to follow his successes in the culinary work. Was glad to get to see him in May as it had been far to long before that.
