David Ozark Obituary

Ozark, David Joseph
David Ozark passed away, unexpectedly but peacefully at the age of 55, on the 31st of October, 2011, at his home in Phoenix, Arizona. David was born May 5th, 1956, in Chicago, IL and graduated from Steinmetz High School in 1974. He later moved to Phoenix, AZ and attended Arizona State University, earning his B.S., Business Administration degree in 1990, majoring in Accounting, and was licensed as a C.P.A. in 1992. Since 1994, David worked at Sun Orchard, Inc. in Tempe, AZ as Vice President - Controller. He previously worked for 8 years as Accounting Manager for Procter & Gamble in Phoenix, AZ. David had a passionate zest for life, and an ever-present smile for everyone around him. His humorous sayings were memorable and his cheerfulness was infectious. David was immediately loved by anyone who met him, whether it was at a Cubs or Diamondbacks baseball game, while joyfully singing or playing music, when sailing on cruise ships, or while enjoying a backyard gathering. His obvious devotion to his family and genuine caring for others endeared him to all even more. David is survived by his sister, Claudia Ozark of San Antonio; his son and his wife, D.J. and Stacy of Phoenix, and his two grandsons, Ben and Jacob; his daughter Amanda of Los Angeles; friend and former wife Jan Morales of San Tan Valley; special friend Elaine Tegovich of Gold Canyon; best friend Tony DeCastro of Gilbert; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, mother Charlotte and father George, and his beloved brother, Jim. Memorial and funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 5th, at Resthaven Park Mortuary & Cemetery, 4310 East Southern Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85042. Relatives and friends are welcome from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services.

Dear David,
It's been 2 years since you left us and we all miss you dearly everyday!!
I am told that it is supposed to get easier as time goes on, but it's not,
it's harder. Everywhere I go, there is a reminder of you. You also have
impeccable timing when it comes to songs on the radio that remind me of
"us." I truly miss you!!! Someday we will see each other again and be
reminded of all the old days we treasure !!
Love you, Sue

My condolences to David's family and close friends.

It was a privilege to know David and a pleasure to work with him at P&G. David's zest for life and upbeat persona was special and always a joy to experience. He was, undoubtedly, one of a kind and someone you could always count on when the going gets tough. God be with you David and may you rest in peace. You were indeed a valued friend and true gentleman, and will be sorely missed by all who had the opportunity to be part of your life.

Ozark Family,
You are in my many thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. David's great sense of humor and quick wit, made me laugh and smile, everyday I saw him. Even though we had our differences in baseball teams, I still managed to get him to wear my White Sox jersey to work for a whole day, he was such a good sport. David, I will never forget you and you will always be in my heart. May you rest in peace.

I was very saddened to hear of David's passing. I worked with him closely for 4 years at P&G during the early years of P&G owning the Phoenix Mfg site. I had the privilege during this timeframe to work even more closely with him as I moved my family to Phoenix for 2 of those years. David and I stayed in touch through the years but hadn't done so for a while. I am saddened by this loss as he was such a great guy. He was free spirited and fun loving and I trusted him as an important advisor to me on the business. To his close family and friends, I feel your loss...I am so sorry to hear about this.

My condolences to all of David's family and friends on his sudden passing. I've worked with David remotely (I live in FL, David in AZ) for 8 years and David was always upbeat, funny, insightful and helpful. He always closed every phone conversation with the words "you have a good day" and you always felt like he really meant it. Those were not idle words to David. David always looked on the bright side...a lesson for all of us. The pictures and mementos in his office told the story of what was truly important to David....his loving family, his many dear friends, all Chicago sports and especially his beloved Cubs. He was truly a very good man. I will miss him.

My Dear Cousin Elaine, I am just learning of David's passing as I catch up on this week's messages. I was happy to have met David this summer while you were both on vacation in New England. I knew he was a special guy and by the time we got on our way I felt I had known him for years. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal and love leaves a memory no one can steal. Rest in peace David!!

I have known David for most of my life, but had the privilege to work with him during the past few years. We frequently talked about the local Arizona sports teams and about Chicago and the neighborhood he grew up in. But what I will remember best is that upon being greeted, he would usually say "livin the dream" or "another day in paradise". This positive attitude and David's genuine character were always a blessing to my day, and he will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to David's wonderful family.

Words could never express the way David touched my life. He was one of those guys that always had faith in you no matter what. He rooted for the underdog; that was what I loved about him. He taught me that no matter what your situation "Life is good." This loss will deeply impact so many. Rest in the arms of the Father David, I will see you again.

To my dear baby brother... You were the sunshine of my life and had a great wit about you just like Jim. You always had a cute comback line like when you were learning to play guitar and when Mom asked you that your playing should be better you said "what do you expect out of a cheap guitar" Your music will live on in all of our lives. There will be many songs that we will remember you for. Now you, Dad, and Grandpa can watch all the Cubs games together and make them win the World Series every year.
May you rest in peace and good Lord will guide the rest of us that you left behind.

David was my boss, but mostly my friend, almost like a brother. I miss you David and will always be grateful to have known you. We had so many fun times sharing and laughing about our kids and grandkids and pretty much anything. There is a poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson that talks about what success is and it definitely describes why David was a success. Rest in peace David.

SUCCESS
by Ralph Waldo Emerson

To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty,
To find the best in others,
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
This poem says so much of who David was. He was my boss but mostly he was my friend, more like a brother. I miss you and will always remember the great times we have had at work and sharing about our kids and grandkids. You have brought a lot of joy to my life. Rest in peace David.

David always had a great laugh and smile. I will never forget that and how he made me smile. Sun Orchard was one of my first jobs out of college and he always made me feel like I was a grown up instead of some kid. My prayers and sympathy go out to David's family. I am thankful to have crossed paths with this great guy! May you rest in peace David!

I am still shocked at this horrible sad news. I am honored that he trusted me as a friend and as his travel agent, He loved cruising and just recently took a trip to Mazatlan with his girlfriend as well as a cruise on the Allure of the Seas. I will always remember him as a scuba diver and a collector of watches. He will be missed but always remembered as a fun loving generous guy. R.I.P. David.
