Don Sherman Obituary

Sherman, Don
Donald Gene Sherman passed away peacefully on March 20, 2016 in Scottsdale, AZ. He was a resident of Scottsdale since 1969, moving from California with his wife and six children to complete graduate studies in engineering at Arizona State University. Six called him dad, eight called him Grandpa Don, and four will recall him as their great-grandfather when they chart their family tree. Don was a son, a brother to two sisters, a Navy veteran, jazz musician, electrical engineer, little league coach, PTA member, high-school athlete, golfer, life-long Broncos and ASU Sun Devil fan, and well-inten-tioned handyman. He was funny, smart, big-hearted, generous, and often the life of the party. Although he was an unusually good speller and excellent writer, those who knew him the longest attest he chose economy of words to communicate with those he loved most. In this spirit, further details of his life will be shared among family and friends later, over toasts and fond reminiscences. A celebratory memorial service is planned for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26 at Messinger Mortuary in Scottsdale (7601 E Indian School Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251). In lieu of flowers, consider just telling each of your children individually that you love them, and leave it at that. A reception follows at McDowell Village (8300 E McDowell Rd in Scottsdale).

Dear Sherman Family,
I will be forever grateful to my sister Susan, brother-in-law,Don and their six amazing children. The Sherman Family opened their hearts and home to my children and I to give us a gift of a future during our time of uncertainty. Rest in peace, Don, and say hello to Warren Spahn.

Fondly,
