Gloria Pendleton, 93, of Pinetop, Arizona our most beautiful angel left her physical body to finally rest in paradise on September 5, 2013. Gloria was reunited with her wonderful parents, late husband Finis, her brother Joe, her son Brent, numerous friends, and her Heavenly Father. Gloria is survived by her granddaughter Sarah Pendleton, daughter-in-law Katrina, nephew Dr. Wallace Love and companion R. Jeffrey Hanson (R.J.). She is also survived by three great nieces and two great nephews.
Education was important to Gloria. She attended the University of Oklahoma and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She returned to college in mid-life to obtain her BAEd and MAEd from Arizona State University and taught fifth grade at Galveston Elementary School in Chandler during the 1970's and 1980's. Retirement from teaching led Gloria from her home in Mesa, AZ to the pristine beauty of Pinetop where she has resided full-time since 1984. Gloria remained active through her years by volunteering at the Pinetop-Lakeside Chamber of commerce and the Humane Society of the White Mountains. Hobbies included completing daily crossword puzzles in ink up until last week. Gloria was a sports enthusiast and kept up with football, basketball, and golf. In her younger years, Gloria was involved with music, singing, and playing the organ. One of her first jobs was playing the organ during silent films. She was well-rounded and enjoyed traveling, entertaining, and made the world's best peanut butter chocolate pies. Gloria's laughter, inspiration and anecdotes will be greatly missed.
