Jeanine Compton Obituary

Jeanine Ann Compton 78, of Phoenix passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 7th. She was born in Joplin, Mo on December 22nd 1928 to George and Evelyn Wanenma-cher. She attended Drury College in Springfield, Missouri and after graduating from Chevy Chase College in D.C., she lived in New York City modeling and working in advertising. After moving back to Joplin, she met Samuel P. Compton Jr. they married on Dec. 28th 1957 and lived in Columbia, Mo. while Sam attended medical school and she worked in radio and television. They moved to Phoenix, AZ. in 1963, where she raised three children and pursued a career in real estate. In her retirement her natural ability for design and her sense of creativity were put to good use working at her daughters interior design firm. She also enjoyed gardening, shopping and traveling and spending time with her daughters and granddaughter. But her main passion was the PHOENIX SUNS as a 39 year season ticket holder she was true Suns fan who never missed a game. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel P. Compton Jr. MD and her son Samuel P. Compton III. She is survived by her daughters Lea Ann and her husband Peter Hildebrant and Karen and her husband Michael Lawhon and her granddaugher Samantha Ann Hildebrant whom she adored. A private celebration of Jeanines' life to be held Sunday November 11th. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Salvation Army ARC 1625 S. Central Ave. Phoenix 85004.

I remember Mrs. C. as a happy and active lady. So active that she never even sat down to eat, at least not when I was there to share the Price Club lasagna.

She always had a nice word, always made me feel welcome in her home and I was sad to hear of her passing.
