John Eccles Obituary

John W. Eccles, Jr., 87 years of age passed away Thursday, July 17, 2003. Born Oct. 1, 1915 in Providence, RI to John W. Eccles & Grace Mae Smithers. John worked for Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage and Calverton Long Island, NY for 25+ years. He was so proud of his F-14. When in California one year, he heard an F-14 Tomcat while going to San Diego, he stopped the car in the middle of traffic on a 5 lane highway to watch it go by. It made his day. Son Alan B. Eccles preceded him in death in 1970. Survived by wife Angela M. Eccles, Brother George Eccles of New York., Children: Anna M. Borrelli (Michael), Mona A. Lisa, Wende R. Eccles, Bonnie M. Kosatka, and David W. Eccles (Diane). Grandchildren: Gina L. Biamonti (Michael), Jerome J. Karcher (Dorothy), Richard C. Alfaro, Scott J. Karcher (Nickie), Lisa Ann Faiello (Arthur) and Carl W. Gunther (Shandra), and Joshua A. Eccles. Great Grandchildren: Amber N. Karcher, Kaylyn M. Alfaro, Ashleigh M. Karcher, Tiffani L. Faiello, Nicholas J. Alfaro, Joseph M. Biamonti, Zackary J. Gunther and Anthony W. Gunther. Everyone he met loved him. John spent 14 years in the Army serving his country and loved every minute of it. John loved builiding "N" scale trains and radio controlled planes until Parkinson's disease got the best of him. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: The Parkinson's Foundation, 500 W. Thomas Rd. Suite 720, Phoenix, AZ 85013. (602)406-4931. John's visitation will be Tuesday, July 22, 2003 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Rd., Phoenix. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, July 23 at 9:00 A.M. at the mortuary.
