Joyce Roget Obituary

Joyce M. Roget

- - Joyce M. Roget passed from this life and into the arms of Jesus on September 7, 2018. Joyce was born to Delmar and Albena Stiffler in Traverse City, Michigan in July, 1933, was the oldest of four children, and her parents' only daughter.

Joyce married Louis Eastin in 1951. They had three children together: Bryan, Greg and Vicky. Later Joyce married John Roget in 1973. They were married until John's passing in December, 2016.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents (Delmar and Albena), her first husband (Louis), and by her husband of 43 years (John). Joyce is survived by her sons Bryan (Margaret) and Greg (April), by her daughter Vicky, by her step-son Jeff (Amanda) and step-daughter Judy. She is survived by her grandchildren Amanda, Alicia, Grace, Prescott, Paul, Timothy, and Jack, and by great grandson Dillon. She is also survived by brothers Raymond, Carl (Connie), and Larry (Wanda).

Joyce won several spelling bee competitions while in school. Among her prized possessions were the dictionaries she was awarded for winning. As you can imagine, she was a crazy-good Scrabble player and still managed to beat her children even in her later years. Joyce attended Lamson Business College and worked for a number of years and for a variety of employers. She was very diligent worker and was often the "go to" person in her office.

Her highest and best vocation, however, was that of Mom, Nana and Nana Pooh (for her love of Winnie The Pooh). She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely and never failed to give everything she had to offer. She had a knack for bringing laughter, love, kindness and acceptance to all.

Joyce was a dedicated Christian and was active in church from her very youngest days until she could no longer attend. She taught Sunday School classes, sang in the choir, attended and led Bible studies, visited those in the hospital, gave stuffed animals and toys to less fortunate children, supported various ministries, prayed for everyone, loved Jesus with all her heart and still thought she was not doing enough. She loved reading her Bible and praying, and memorized Bible verses like they were going out of style.

You will be missed greatly. Yet, we are so happy that you are in the loving arms of your Savior. Thank you for the gift of your life and your love. You have influenced our lives in innumerable ways and we are better people for having had you in our lives. We love you more than words could ever possibly express. Your Loving Family.

I'm so sorry to see that Joyce has passed away. She was such an amazing prayer warrior. She was our mentor when we came back to the Lord in 1977. We stayed in touch for many years. I have been trying to locate her for the past couple of years and was unable. My daughter and I was talking about her and how we wanted to see her again. I looked up her name and found her obituary. I was very saddened to see it. I loved her so much. I know one day I will see her again.May God comfort your family. I know she loved all her children and grandchildren more than you'll ever know. God bless, Sandy Barnes
