Marvin Sessler Obituary

Sessler, Marvin Eugene
81, beloved husband, father, brother and angel to those he loved, will be laid to rest with wife Patricia. Marvin passed away Nov. 7, 2012 at Hospice of the Valley - Ryan Home in Phx, AZ. Family members gathered at his side. Fourth of 6 children Marvin was born Aug. 17, 1931 to Beulah Boaz Sessler and Warren Sessler in Hugoton, Kans. Marvin survived scarlet fever as a child. He loved school & graduated 8th grade as saluteatorium. Marvin (Mike) a 4 year letterman with Hugoton Eagles football team that tied the Hayes Cadets 6-6 his senior year. Mike served 4 years in the U.S. Navy 1950-1954 during the Korean War. After his discharge he worked for Northern Natural Gas Co. as an assistant to surveyor Bob Miller. He also played third base on their fast pitch softball team. Mike became a barber with brother Bob in Amerillo, Tex. but later in 1955 moved to Phx, AZ and worked in the ceramic tile trade for 37 years. Mike became a journeyman tile setter & silent partner of Sessler Tile Co. Inc. He worked on tileing the Dome of Gov. Hunt Memorial, Grady Gammage Auditorium and several schools & churches throughout the state. Mike was preceeded in death by his older sister Marjorie and brother Harry. He was a guardian for Harry, a injured WWII vet. Mike loved hunting, fishing, golf, horse racing and billiards. He was a devoted father to his daughter Cheryl and his son Charlie. Mike is survived by brothers Bob and Dave and sister Betty, 2 sister-in-laws JoAnn and Anna and numerous nieces and nephews. Marvin was a courageous leader, a caring and loving person, always helpful. He had a great sense of humor. Mike will be dearly missed by his family. Mike and his wife Pat were two of the kindest, sweetest, and nicest people I ever had the pleasure to know.They both were so good to me and I really appreciated their kindness.God bless them,the world is dimmer without them.
