Melvin Epps Obituary
passed away on April 9, 2016. Mell Epps, 74, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, peacefully succumbed to cancer, surrounded by his family at home on Saturday April 9, 2016. Mell was a firefighter for the City of Mesa for 22 years, and a Fire Chief in Heber Overgaard for 5 years. Mell was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mell is proceeded in death by his father; JD, siblings; Jack, Libby, Jimmy, and daughter; Lynn Ellsworth. He is survived by his mother; Gertie, wife; Marie, and sons; Ray (Robyn), Scott (Anndrea) and Darrell (Tracy). Siblings; Jerry (Marca), Mike (Angelica), Kelly (Tom) Craig, Diane (Steve) Spraggins, 21 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren. Services for Mell will be held on Saturday, April 16th at the Lehi Chapel located at 830 E. Lehi Rd in North Mesa. There will be a viewing from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. The Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM followed by internment at the City of Mesa Cemetery.

Mell was one of our favorite people of all time. We loved to hear him tell stories of firefighting and rescue. Marc and I wish we could come to the services. We are so sorry to hear of his passing. We are out of town and won't be back until May. --Marc and Sandra Bunker

Mel was and still is an inspiration in my life as to how to show love and support for all who had the privilege of knowing him. Our thoughts and prayers are for his family, we will miss him, but at the same time are thankful that we had him in our lives, even for a short time.
