Michael Barbieri Obituary
Michael Angelo Barbieri of Mesa passed away on Friday November 10th surrounded by loved ones. A first generation American citizen, Mike was born in Akron, Ohio to Nicola Barbieri and Rosa Theresa Campisi of Calabria, Italy. Mike is survived by wife Linda and his 3 children from a previous marriage, Mark Barbieri of CA, John Barbieri of NC and Christine Gannon of AZ as well as 11 grandchildren, 3 step children and 12 step-grandchildren. He was a successful entrepreneur owning several businesses throughout his life including West Mark Auto - a four bay auto repair shop and parts store in downtown Akron and Mike's Appliance here in the Valley. As a young man, Mike enjoyed playing drums professionally in various jazz bands around Akron and New York City. Mike was also a Korean War Veteran honorably serving 2 years as an Army Field Medic. After retirement, Mike was very active in the Knights of Columbus chapter as well as the Hope Outreach Ministry at Christ the King Catholic Church in Mesa. A funeral mass will be held on 28 November at 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Hope Outreach Ministry.
