Michael Jankowski Obituary

Jankowski, Michael Daniel
48, of Tempe, Arizona passed away peacefully on October 26, 2015 at Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix. His immediate family members will miss him deeply, especially the times when he was their "Pony Boy". During a life-long residency, Michael enjoyed "everything Tempe", including the Town Lake, Downtown, and Sun Devil sports. He also enjoyed outdoor activities such as snowboarding, skateboarding, and bicycling. When possible, he shared these activities with his greatest joy and legacy, his beloved son, Joey (Joseph Daniel). One memorable trip was their bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge. They both loved their cat, Cooner. In addition to Joey, Michael is survived by his parents, Betty and Daniel; siblings, David (Haley), Betsy King and Kathy Devenport; nieces, Sarah Roche, Allison McClelland, Cali Jankowski, and Connie Devenport; nephew, Thomas King; Uncle David and Aunt Gwladys Jankowski; cousins, Jason, Michael, and Matthew, and many life-long friends. Michael was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Tom King. Services will be private. Donations can be made in Michael's memory to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower, Phoenix, AZ 85014 or Animal Defense League of Arizona, PO Box 33093, Phoenix, AZ 85067

It´s hard to believe it´s been 10 years. Joey still loves ASU football, and Cooner is still being spoiled. Everyone misses you.

I hope you are doing well brother. Are the skateparks up there good? You've probably been watching what I've been doing lately. I know you would like driving the dump truck.

Cooner, being spoiled.

Merry Christmas, Michael. We all missed you today. I tried to upload a photo of Cooner but this app wouldn't let me. She's being spoiled at Mom and Dad's house, and a little bit of a bad cat---breaking things and knocking over her litter box. Joey, on the other hand, is being a very good boy. It's hard to believe it will be two months tomorrow since you died. It still seems unreal to all of us. I hope you are in perfect peace right now.

I went to grade school and high school with Mike. He always had such a great sense of humor. Some of the funniest memories I have from grade school are of the pranks he pulled. He was one of those people it was impossible not to like.

So many memories of Michael. The fabric of my childhood is laced with them--especially his cherished and enduring friendship with my brother Steve. To the Jankowskis, I am so sorry for your loss and grateful for your family's friendship with ours.

The news of Mike's passing came as a shock; my wife Tami and I are deeply saddened. Mike was a great friend for the past 31 years and also an easy going roommate. I have many memories of skateboarding, snowboarding, road trips, and going to parties back in the day with Mike. More recently, there were some fun bike rides to downtown Tempe, sometimes with his fine son Joey. I know Joey will be a smart, kind, (and quite tall) man like Mike.
Mike will be missed.... Condolences to the family.
