Pamela Weigel Obituary

Weigel, Pamela
Pamela Kay Weigel (Blackley), 67, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother peacefully passed away at her home in Gilbert, AZ on December 17, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Pam was born in Salt Lake City, UT to Royal Blackley and Kathleen Perkins. Pam grew up in the San Fernando Valley and was a member of the graduating class of 1965 from Cleveland High School in Reseda, CA. Continuing her education, Pam graduated with a Bachelors of Art in History and a Masters of Art in Education, with a specialty in reading, each from California State University, San Bernardino. In 1970, Pam moved to Hemet, CA. After earning her teaching credential in 1977, Pam began her career as an elementary school teacher for Hemet Unified School District. Pam taught at Little Lake Elementary School for 24 years and was loved by her students and well respected by her colleagues. Mrs. Weigel taught kindergarten and second grade and every year had parents specifically request that their children be in her class. On July 25, 1978, Pam married her sweetheart, Lawrence Ernest Weigel, and was sealed for all time and eternity to her husband and children on July 22, 1983 in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints. Pam was an active member of her church and served in many callings in Primary, Sunday School, Young Women's, and Relief Society, which she served twice as president. Pam will always be remembered for her caring and compassionate service to others. After retiring, Pam moved to Gilbert, AZ in 2005 and continued her hobbies of quilting, sewing, collecting Beanie Babies, and traveling with Larry and their friends, which she enjoyed most. Pam traveled extensively throughout the United States and North America and also included trips to Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Israel, Africa, and Europe, with Venice, Italy being her favorite. Ever the adventurous spirit, Pam, at age 64, went sky diving with her grandson and said it was the thrill of a lifetime! Pam's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and "spoiling" her grandchildren, which all affectionately call her "Nana". Pam is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 36 years, Larry Weigel; daughters Amy (Darren) Fiscalini and Page (Joseph) Phillips; sons Jason (Rhonda) Graff and Brent Graff; nine grandchildren; and sister Patricia (William) Mulligan. Pam's parents and infant siblings, Gayle Ann and Kevin Royal Blackley, were anxiously awaiting her arrival in heaven. Services for Pam are being held at 10:30am on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Queen Creek Chandler Heights Stake Center, which is located at 7631 South Constellation Way, Gilbert, AZ 85298. The services are being arranged through San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home, 21809 South Ellsworth Road, Queen Creek, AZ 85142. Ph 480-888-2682, www.santanmountainviewfuneralhome.com. Pam was a dear friend. I am sorry to hear that she has passed away. She let me substitute teach for her for many years and I enjoyed working with her in the Hemet Stake Young Women's. I will forever be grateful to her for her help and advice. My sincere condolences to her family. I will miss her, too.
