Today marks twelve years since Paul's passing and my husband, Bill, and I will lift our glasses and drink a toast to him tonight. He would be happy to know that we now have seven grandchildren and all are well and live close to us. Even though he lived far away, family always meant a great deal to Paul. As our world is in the midst of battling the COVID-19 pandemic, fortunately he has not had to live through this most difficult time. I think of him often and hope his soul continues to be at peace.

It's hard to believe that eleven years have passed since Paul left us. I still think of him often as he was my only uncle and we had a good relationship. Although he lived far away geographically, family and old friends were always still near and dear to him. His life did have its ups and downs, but even as a born New Englander he loved living in Arizona and he was finally lucky to meet and marry, Eloise, the love of his life and they shared many wonderful years together. In this day and age, passing away at 78 is too soon, but it's comforting to know that he had found true happiness.

My regrets go the the whole Hembise family, especially Eloise, I worked with Paul at Motorola for many years in the Environmental Test Facility and found him to be a kind, gentle, soft spoken person and I am sure he will be missied by all who knew him...

Fond memories come to mind when I remember Paul, who was both my uncle and godfather. Although he lived most of his life in Arizona, his ties to New England always remained strong and he visited home often when I was a young girl. Memories of hikes in the woods and trips to Boston, which had to include lunch at Durgin Park, always make me smile. I'll never forget when Paul brought the authentic makings for quesadillas home to New England for the first time many years ago. We all loved this "exotic" treat and from that point on he had a standing request to bring them whenever he visited.
The years went by, I also left New England and ultimately settled in Coronado, CA with my family. How ironic it was when our son and his wife moved to Scottsdale and settled in a neighborhood just a few miles from Paul and Eloise. Destiny brought us together again and we were so fortunate to be able to renew family ties during the past few years. Now we have more happy memories and it's heartwarming to know that life really does come full circle sometimes. I will miss you, Paul. Love, Denise
