Dearest Courtney,
I was so saddened by the news that your mom had passed away. She was a beautiful person, full of life and kindness. Your mom reached out to me with encouragement, kindness and support when I first started teaching at Aguilar. She made sure that I felt welcome. Seeing the two of you at my retirement party was something I will forever cherish.
I'm sorry I was not at her memorial service. Both Mr. Blayter and I were planning on attending but I unfortunately got the times mixed up. I thought it was in the evening, the time of the wake. I was very sad about that! Donna Higgins told me it was a beautiful tribute so worthy of your mom.
Courtney, know that my heart grieves for you, your sisters and your dad. Please extend my sympathy to them.
Always your friend and first grade teacher,
Mrs. Blayter
