Sofia de Cisneros Obituary
Sofia Ponce de Cisneros, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother entered heaven Friday, June 8, 2012 in Mesa, Arizona. She was born in 1932 to Gumecindo and Margarita Ponce in San Andres, Chialta, Mexico. She resided in Chicago from 1955 to 1987 where she worked to provide unselfishly for her family. Her home was filled with love, laughter, compassion, and endless sacrifices with God always at the center of her petitions. She retired in Arizona in 1987 with her husband Eugene Cisneros of 56 years. Sofia continued to embrace her neighbors as family, extending her loving heart and generous hospitality until her last days. She is survived by her beloved children, Hector, Roberto, Elvia, Mercedes-Patricia, (Laura Eugenia), and Cecilia, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Mortuary Chapel, 1562 E. Baseline Road, Mesa, AZ 85204. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Resurrection, 3201 S. Evergreen Road, Tempe, AZ 85282. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery followed by a reception at the church hall. Arrangements entrusted to Queen of Heaven Mortuary.
