Stuart Matheson Obituary

Stuart Matheson

Phoenix - Stuart (Stu) Matheson lost his battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis on May 18, 2018. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on September 29, 1933, Stu was the youngest of three children. Stu graduated from Central HS in Grand Rapids and is a Veteran of the Korean War. He met his beloved wife, Anne, while stationed near White Plains in New York. Upon returning from the military, Stu attended Michigan State University. After Graduation, Stu and Anne moved to San Diego where they started a family. Stu followed his passion of commercial real estate to Phoenix in 1973, where he started his own company.

Stu was the epitome of a family man, always putting his family's happiness and wellbeing first. He had a love for the outdoors where he could regularly be found fishing, skiing, camping and hiking with his outdoor club, The Wild Goose Chasers. Many of his best memories came from traveling with family and friends, hosting at the family cabin in Munds Park, and celebrating the holidays with his loved ones. Stu leaves behind his wife Anne, daughters Kathi Marsh and Karen Fujimoto, five grandkids, his sister Terry Staples and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering will be held August 18th. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in behalf of Stu to Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, Chicago IL.
