Carol Shipley Obituary

Carol Anne "Anne" Shipley

Anne was born December 12, 1946 in Hamilton, Ohio to Jay and Virginia Shipley. Anne lost her battle with cancer on October 21, 2012. She was preceded in death by several aunts and four grandparents, father Jay Shipley (1974), mother Virginia Shipley (1986), twin brothers (1951), and sister Lynne Christine "Christine" Shipley (2008). Anne is survived by the most loving husband in the world, Doug Jilg, daughter Sally Shipley-Jilg, son Samuel (Megan), Shipley-Jilg and one grandson, Jimmy Jilg. She had an amazing career working in the first Black Studies College in the nation, the beginnings of a new medical school, administrator positions at Michigan State University, Northern Arizona University and University of Arizona, working in children's mental health in Arizona, and as CEO and manager of a children's dance and theater studio. But the most important thing in her life was her family. Visitation and a memorial service will be held 10/26/2012 in Hamilton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the cancer or developmental disabilities cause of your choice.
