Barbara Louise Beck

1929 - 2007

Barbara Louise Beck went to be with her soul-mate on December 4, 2007. She was born to George and Mary Dean in Los Angeles, California as the youngest of three children. She graduated from Dorsey High School and went to work in the attendance office at USC. There she met her future husband and true soul-mate, Gene Beck. They were married on July 31, 1948. In November of 1949 their first son, Chris, was born and in 1953 the family moved to Delano, California to start a new life. Gene began his professional career as a teacher and coach at Delano High School. Barbara gave birth to their second son, Jeff on February 16, 1954. In 1963, she went to work for the Delano Union Elementary School District as an aide and worked for the district in various positions for over 20 years. She was married to Gene for 53 years and they enjoyed many wonderful excursions upon retirement. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Gene; mother, Mary; father, George and her brothers, George and Kenny. She is survived by her son, Chris Beck and his wife, Lisa and grandchildren, Amanda and husband, Brian Caywood and great-grandchild, Carson, Ethan and Delaney; son, Jeff Beck and his wife, Jamie and grandchildren, Kaitlin, Sydney, Madison and Connor. A Memorial Mass for Barbara Louise Beck will be held at St. Mary's Pastoral Center (1732 11th Avenue Delano, CA 93215) on Monday morning, December 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes Foundation (800-342-2383).
