Born in Bakersfield on June 17, 1942, Rita Cooper ws a generous, fun loving woman, whose laughter and smile was infectious to all around her. Meeting Rita was like meeting your best friend. She loved being with her family and attending Pastor Jacks services at Coronado Baptist Church. She was a talented local artist and enjoyed sharing her love of art with her students, who all became her friend. If it didnt move, Rita would paint it. She will always be remembered for the beautiful roses she loved to paint.
Ritas passing was preceded by that of her husband, Samuel R. Cooper. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Anna and Wyman Wells; daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Mark Degagne; sons, Michael Cooper and Carl Cooper; daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Ken Kuzminski; sister, Ramona Sue Sebesta; grandchildren, Andrew and Ashton Degagne, Jennifer and Melissa Cooper, Carol Ann Cooper, Sammy Del Rio, Justin, Brad, Steven and Chad Kuzminski; great-grandson, Koby Bryce Haynes; niece and her husband, Christie and Ron Griffin; and great-nephew, A.J. Avila. She will be greatly missed by her family, many friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ at Coronado Baptist Church.
After years of respiratory ailments, God in his infinite wisdom and mercy decided it was time to call our beloved Rita home. She will be welcomed in heaven by her loving husband, Sammy. Although it is deepest sorrow that we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is in Gods hands now, and will bask in his glory.
Ritas family would like to express their deepest thanks to the staff at Bakersfield Memorial Hsopital for their compassion and care during her remaining days, and to all her friends who provided emotional support during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 3-7 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Services will be held at Coronado Baptist Church on Thursday, at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Jack Lee will officiate.

Today I found a treasure. One of her beautiful paintings at a consignment store. Gosh I'm so blessed to have memory of her in my home. She was an angel on earth and our family friend for many yrs.
