Robert Crum Obituary

Robert W. Crum
August 13, 1927 - Died

Robert W. Crum was born to Guy and Nellie Crum in Chappell, NE. His Dad passed at age 53 and Bob dropped out of school for a year to help the family still living at home. He joined the Navy and served 3 years which helped him mature he said. His training as a radioman in the service was good but his heart was in becoming a fireman. He passed the test with flying colors, to do a job he enjoyed every day of his 24 years of service in Denver before retiring. He and his wife Doris (Morell) deceased, had 3 sons, Arthur, David, and Dale who still reside in Denver. He proudly watched his grandchildren, g-grandchildren and later his stepchildren in CA as their families matured. He loved the vacation trips he took with his children. Bob's spiritual life deepened and he and 2 firefighter friends organized the Fellowship of Christian Firefighters organization, which is still growing with an international outreach. Following retirement, he became a full-time chaplain of 600 retired firefighters. He is survived by his children and wife Charlotte, whom he married in 2007 and moved to Bakersfield, CA. She says he was a gift of happiness to her in her senior years. Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 17, 10:30 a.m. at Redemption Church Chapel, 48 Manor St.

Dear Charlotte, I wish I'd known Bob. He sounds and looks great and I'm so sorry for your loss. Yes, I've been trying to call only to find that your number was disconnected. Last night, I called. M.N. to check on her. (She never calls me; she can't find my number and cannot see very well.) Anyway, she said that you gave her your new number for me to call you. She lost it, so I'm going to try a number that I got off internet. If that doesn't work, my number is 817 + 737-7007. I read note that Charlene put on Bob's obit. It was so sweet. I know that she would not remember me, but I remember both of the kids so well. 'Hope to talk to you soon. Love, Ruthie (BR)

Hi Pop's...
You are truly missed by all of us down here on earth. Heaven has got a hold of a sweet, kind, loving angel now.
I want to thank you for the love you gave to my mom for the past 10 years after my dad had died. You made her come alive again. I didn't get to tell you this towards the end. I also want to say thank you for the love you gave to me and Sam and accepted us like we were 2 of your own kids. And for loving our grand kids. They truly latched on to you as their great grandpa.
I will never forget you Pop's NEVER...

TILL WE MEET AGAIN...
LOVE,
CHARLENE
