I remember Alan from New London High. He was a well dress
young man, he and his brother.
Just a gentlemen & kind human.
I admired his intellectual conversations.

Just last night I was listening to music as Harry Nilsson began singing You Made Me Love You. I stopped and smiled because Harry singing any of those old classics always reminds me of Alan. He loaned me that particular album some 45 years ago. I loved it, but finally had to force myself to return it to him. We knew each other for a few years in New London when he was working at the 95 House and I was often a Friday night customer. We got together after hours reveling with the late night crowd as many young people did in those days. Throughout the past decades I have occasionally wondered what Alan finally did do with his life. For some reason last night I was compelled to google him and found that he had passed away. Even though we had no contact for all those years, his passing had a profoundly melancholy impact on me, I think because he was one of those people whose memory always did make one smile. In those halcyon and hope filled mists of the past, I remember Alan as a beautiful man inside and out with a soft voice, a seductive smile, and a tender heart. He clearly attached himself somehow to a little piece of my soul because I have never forgotten him. He will always exist in my mind with a young body, luxuriant black curls and that bewitching smile. The first paragraph of his obituary was so quintessentially Alan. May sweet music and the perfect light be with you always, Alan.

I was terribly sad to find out about Alan's passing. Such an amazing mentor, I always think of him and his teachings continue to help me evolve as an artist and as a human being. I wish I could be in contact with Eric and send my deepest condolences to him and all the family.

Alan will always be remembered fondly by his friends in New Haven. A wonderful, warm man and a true "guiding light" in the area of music and photography.

My husband and I often spoke to Allan on our frequent visits to Bright View to visit my father in law. He was so pleasant, so interesting to talk too. We looked forward to seeing him each time we visited. We will remember him always, and he will be missed at Bright View.

Hello Eric, I don't know if you will remember, but Alan stayed with me for the first 6 or so weeks he was in Baltimore while a flat was becoming available for him, and so you and I spoke over the telephone a few times during that period when you would call and Alan was unavailable.
I was so stunned and saddened by the news of Alan's passing. Beyond the fact that he and I were colleagues for a few years, we were also friends. His amazing wit and intellect captivated everyone who met him; the world without Alan will be a less vivid and enjoyable place for the rest of us.
Alan truly was a unique individual, and I am so very sorry for your loss.

Eric...
Very sorry for your loss. Alan got me interested in photography almost 50 years ago and I still have the cameras and darkroom equipment he recommended. Again, very sorry for your loss. Be Well...
