Spencer Wyatt Rutberg

1978 - 2023

LOS ANGELES, CA - Spencer Wyatt Rutberg, 44, of Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully at Cedars-Sinai Hospital on March 17, 2023, after a battle with metastatic colorectal cancer.

Spencer grew up in Cheshire, CT, graduating from Cheshire High School in 1997. He was a Cum Laude graduate of Hunter College in Manhattan, NY, and later went on to get his Juris Doctorate degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California. After passing both the California and Connecticut Bar Exams, Spencer's career path took a turn and he accepted a job as a Senior Production Accountant with the animation studio Titmouse, Inc. This path later took him on to a role in Production Finance within the animation department at Netflix, where he was loved and respected.

Spencer's most treasured position was as life partner and husband to the love of his life, Betsy Gussack-Rutberg, and their two beloved dogs, Myla and Rosie. Spencer was known for his enormous heart and generosity. He was happiest in front of the grill, listening to 90's hip hop on the stereo, surrounded by friends and family. Spencer was an avid reader and a phenomenal chef who's humor and wisdom will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him. Throughout his illness Spencer was the image of courage and strength. He continued to be generous and funny even in the face of adversity.

Spencer is survived by his wife, Betsy Gussack-Rutberg and also by his parents, Michael and Hilary Rutberg, as well as his brother, Evan Rutberg, and his niece and nephew.
