Gloria Rutberg Obituary
Gloria Skale Rutberg
Gloria Skale Rutberg, beloved wife of Joseph, loving mother of Rebecca (Andrew), Jessica, Jordan (Dede), and Melissa (Dan) and devoted grandmother of Kate, Jack, Solomon, Rachel, Noah, Chloe, Adrian, and Eva, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2022. She is survived by her sister Eleanor Skale, and sister-in-law Linda Skale. Gloria was predeceased by her brother Stephen Skale. Gloria had an expansive definition of family and is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
Gloria was born to Joseph and Kate Skale on January 3, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA. After graduating from Girls High, she attended Temple University and taught in the Philadelphia School System before meeting her husband of 54 years, Joe. Gloria moved with Joe to DC, establishing roots in Potomac, MD where she raised their four children.
While nothing can capture Gloria's spirit and enjoyment of life, she was known by all for her genuine interest in others and desire to take care of those in her orbit.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, 10 a.m. at Temple Beth Ami, 14330 Travilah Road, Rockville, MD 20850 with interment to follow at Garden of Remembrance in Clarksburg, MD. Family will be receiving following burial with Minyan at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Melissa and Dan Groman. Gifts of tzedakah in Gloria's memory may be made to Makom - formerly known as Jewish Foundation for Group Homes (makomlife.org).

I am very sorry that Gloria passed away. Although I did not know her well, I knew she was a fine person through how you spoke about her (and your children). Thanks you for being such a great teacher and boss these many years ago.
