Dear Darcel, How can it be 10 years ago that I received an hysterical call from Aquila? I knew when I heard her voice, you were gone from this earth. Working as you were was not healthy and you promised you would make some changes. 15 days later, I got the call. I would love to talk to people in our past who remember growing up with us. I pray you are at Peace. Your kids are ok & you have many beautiful grandchildren. I talk to you thru my rainbow crystals in the morning. Talk back in my dreams so I know you are ok - Miss you - DD

Dear Darcel,
As 8 long years have just passed for your disappearance of our earthly life, I can't help but wonder where you would be today. You were a master at everything. Your Hula and work ethics awarded you many praises. Your Zina turned 8 & I am so happy you met her. She and all of your grandchildren & great grandchildren are beautiful. I kept very busy on you anniversary this year trying to just tune into our past together. It is hard to believe how life has progressed and the paths we are all entering. I enjoyed Aquila after so many years and try to watch the family grow thru technology, something neither of us were good at! I want to talk with your old friends but do not know where anyone is anymore, but I do know they think of you from time to time because you were 1 person who stuck in peoples hearts. Miss you kid sis. Love you - Me

Darcel,
How could I forget the one enjoyment of your life? Your hula! May you grace heaven with your beautiful calming and peaceful radiance when you perform your hula dancing. Your most sought after earthly pleasure. Mahalo Sister

My Dear, Sweet, Fun, Free spirited, Beautiful, Mermaid Sister Darcel,
I will miss you forever. How does life go on without you? I can never see you swim with the turtles again. The pain is so deep, at times I can hardly breathe knowing we will never laugh again, eat Ronson's Crabs, Joey's Pig and Stephen's Fish, yell at the kids, travel, tell stories, meet new friends at the Nui, talk business, reminise about people and life, grow old together.
Your funeral proved how loved you were to everyone. Your family is lost without you. Peace Baby Sister,
Debi [email protected]

Although I've thought of your Darcel many times since high school, I never had the chance (I'm in NYC) to see her since the time she visited Towson with her 1st-born infant daughter Aquila. What a beautiful pair they were .

As a young photographer (just starting my career) I made some images of the 2 of them together. My favorite, (that I loved all my life) Is on my website www.DianaKassir.com. If you look in the section called "CHILDREN" I'm sure that you can figure out which one it is. Just click on the thumbnails along the right side until you find it. Please let me know when you do.
The site is Flash, so you can only see it on computer (iPhone won't show Flash).
My deepest condolences to all of you. Darcel was one of my favorite friends, and I always wished that I would see her again.

Much Love,
Diana

I met Darcel's son Joey today. He and his uncle George selflessly helped me, a stranger. They spoke so lovingly of Darcel. She must have been a wonderful mom and rightfully proud of her son.

Debi and Derek, I am Debbie Schlack Rotondo and I am so sorry to hear of Darcel's passing. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to all of your family. I remember the great times we had as teenagers a long time ago. Derek was much younger and your Mom was always telling us to include him even though we thought he was a pest. Oh the memories of Campus Hills! Darcel had 8 grandchildren? Wow! Debi, I hope you and your family are well. I think the last time I heard about your family was that Derek had quite a few children. May God give you comfort in this time of grief and know that so many people think and pray for you and for Darcel.

I was a classmate of Darcel's at Notre Dame Prep. She was always bright, pretty, and so lovely to know. I pray that you all find peace and comfort at this very difficult time.

Darcel ... was an amazing friend. We had so many adventures together as childhood buddies growing up in Campus Hills and onward all the way to Flagstaff Arizona where we moved into different life directions.

When I heard she had passed on I lit a candle and spent a day in reminiscence of our childhood capers ... the ducks, Quick and Quack come to mind at this moment. We became blood sisters at age 12? in a ceremony, merging our wounds. I loved her family of origin, Debbie, Derek, Rita and Joe. I remember giving her a haircut once. What a disaster ! Trying to arrive at the latest 60's style, her heavy beautiful hair when cut stuck out staight for days. I'm sorry about that, Darcel. You were sweet and forgiving and understood that my intentions were good. There is so much more ... we laughed so much and had so many good times.

My dear friend ... I will always remember you as an authentic beautiful free spirit living in Paradise.

With love and condolences, Donna

So sorry to hear of Darcel's passing. We were in the same class at NDP and were on the cheerleading squad together. She was so full of life and energy. So sad that she left this world so soon. Donna Muth

I too went to NDP and Darcel was in my class. She was always so friendly, cheerful, kind and pretty inside and out. It is so hard to lose a loved one and I pray that each day brings you happy memories and peace.

Hi, I am so sorry to hear of Darcel's death. I was in her class at NDP and have many fond memories of her wonderful spirit. I am happy she moved to Kauai -- the flower island filled with beautiful people (my husband and I visited there once, in Waimea and it was hard to leave). Sending thoughts and prayers to her her family and friends. Susie Yaruta (-Young).
