I am shocked to find out that Dr. Shuey has passed. I was looking up his information for a friend's daughter who needs a good surgeon. Dr. Shuey operated on me around 2008 after other doctors said I had to live with my pain. He was a blessing to find even though I have some nerve damage he fixed my problem. My heart goes out to his family. I still remember the many hats he had in his office and his wonderful sense of humor.

I just heard today of Dr. Shuey's passing and it stopped me in my tracks. He operated on me in 1993. He was so good to me, easing my fears and making me laugh. The surgery was successful and has given me many years without pain. God bless him and his family.

I am truly saddened by Dr Shuey’s passing. I was just telling my wife 2 days ago that I need to write him and let him know the result of his healing care, he gave me my life back. Dr Shuey performed 3 lumbar and 1 cervical surgeries on me over 5 years. I didn’t hold out much hope for full recuperation but he told me “ah, you’ll be fine”. Since then I have completed 1 Olympic distance and 5 sprint distance triathlons as well as a 100k bike event!!! I wanted so bad to tell him this and regret not reaching out to him sooner. Thank you Dr Shuey!! I know you were received into Heaven with open arms to take your place with the angels of the Lord. My deepest sympathies to Dr Shuey’s family and friends. May the Lord bless you and keep you and cover you with His peace

I was very saddened to read Henry's obituary in the Huntsville (AL) Times this morning. "Hooker" and were friends and bandmates at Lee High School in the early 60s. I knew he went on to become a neurosurgeon, and I am heartened to learn that he was a fine and caring physician, a natural development for the warm and fun-loving young man I knew. I send my prayers and condolences to his family.

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Dr. Shuey. He was a gifted surgeon and a very special man. He showed compassion to his patients and actually listened. You could tell that he wanted to help. I have been a patient of his for many years, of which I had 4 back surgeries. My doctors here told me I’d have to live with pain. But Dr. Shuey found my problem and gave me my life back. I am blessed to have known Dr. Shuey and so grateful for what he has done for me. He touched so many lives and will truly be missed. My husband John and I send our sincere condolences.

Dr. Shuey was such a wonderful doctor and a great boss to work for. I have worked for Dr. Shuey scheduling his surgeries for 4 1/2 years and I just loved him. My husband Rich knew him because he worked for Franklin Selections (Wine Company). I loved seeing his crazy hats in his office and hearing him say "fire away" when he was ready for the next patient. He would always stop at my desk and ask me if everything was okay. His last words to me were "Don't be afraid, we are all dealt cards in life and these are mine, so go home with your family and watch a movie for me with them and enjoy them". We all will miss him! Susan and family our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dr. Shuey knew exactly what to say or what to do to make a moment of stress ease. I remember waiting for word of my sisters surgery, Dr. Shuey walked into the waiting room with the tallest ten gallon cowboy hat I've ever seen. Dr. Shuey was honest, caring and truly one of the finest doctors, man I've ever had the pleasure to know. To his family may our Lord give you comfort and peace.
