On February 01, 2017, Captain John Sim Slaughter USN (Ret.) beloved husband of the late Bess Brewster Slaughter; dear father of Dr. John S. Slaughter (Margo), Anne Slaughter Kern and Mary Frank Slaughter; dear grandfather of Jamie Polhamus, Carly Koopman, David and Franny Legge, John and Patrick Kern, Natalie Wilkerson, Julia Gray and Emaline Fiala; devoted brother of Margaret Ann Yeakley Buck. Also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, February 13th at 1:00 PM at Roland Park Place, 830 W. 40th St. Baltimore, MD 21211. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, February 14that 10:30 AM at the United States Naval Academy Chapel. Interment in the United Stated Naval Academy Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorials in his name to the United States Naval Academy Foundation, 247 King George St., Annapolis, MD 21402 or the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, 801 N. What a difficult day for all the family - but 103 action packed years leaves many wonderful memories!
I enjoyed my time serving on the Destroyer Division 38 Alumni committee, and all the time that gave me with "Captain Jack!" After 55 years of knowing him, I feel like I'm losing my grandfather!
I'll be flying in from Ireland on Monday. See you all at the Naval Academy on Tuesday.

We were saddened to learn of Capt. Slaughter's death. He was very special and loved by so many at the Colonnade. Nathan, my grandson, will miss him very much. He visited him with the Thomsen's when he was last home from boarding school. Nathan will always treasure things given to him by Capt Slaughter.Our sincerest sympathy, Joyce Ann Burman
