I love you, Uncle Matt!
Aunt Janet, Laura & Ian, Lisa & Dan, and kids,
we were all lucky to have him, he will be missed terribly. We live in the consolation that Uncle Matt lives in fullness now, and I believe he will be very busy advocating for all of us until we meet again...
Uncle Matt was the one who nurtured my interest in visual arts by getting the most interesting "toys" -- a set of rubber stamps (alphabets) when I was young to print with; and this awesome mimeograph printing set, it had a reusable printing "plate," in the days before computers this was the niftiest thing, we played school and printed sheets, made menus for parties, it was fascinating.
And, of course, when I had been working in the graphics field for a couple of years, Uncle Matt gave me what has come to be affectionately named "the Uncle Matt signature model" printers loop, or scope (10 x magnification), I used it professionally until I "retired" from the industry, and my children used it to examine things. The last time I saw Uncle Matt, he asked me if I still had it, and I had just run across it in a drawer. We called it the signature model because he had inscribed, "Merry Christmas Mary K love Uncle Matt 1980" along the base.
More than that, though, Uncle Matt always made me feel special, like I was his favorite niece, and since he was my Godfather, I think I was...come to find out, he made my siblings and cousins all feel the same way. That takes a special kind of love.

Aunt Janet,
Polish men are known for their hard work ethics, their loving personalities, and infectious smiles. Uncle Matt had and exceeded all of these! St. Joseph is about to learn a thing or two about carpentry! Uncle Matt was the best. My sincere thoughts, prayers, and love are with you and your family. Your niece, Mary /Atlanta

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more touch, one more laugh, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
Please accept our deepest sympathy,
John, Lou Ann and Stephen

Aunt Janet, Laura, Ian, Lisa, Dan and families, Our consolation is that Uncle Matt went straight to heaven. His infectious laugh, sense of humor and ready smile were just the outward images of his generous, kind, loving heart and soul. We will all miss him and feel your sorrow. Love, Donna Naylor and family (Busch > Furman > Gac)
