On October 2, 2016, Dr. Michael Billig; cherished husband of Elizabeth Billig (nee Seidenberg); loving father of Maxwell Billig and his significant other Cameron Jackson, and the late Madeleine "Maddie" Billig; dear brother of Daniel Billig and the late Andrew Billig; dear brother-in-law of Sherry Billig, Lisa Billig, Carolyn and Jay Burwinkel, and Deborah Locke; adored son of Janet and Jack Billig; beloved son-in-law of Kit and the late Charles Seidenberg; also survived by many loving generations of nieces and nephews. Services at SOL LEVINSON & BROS., INC., 8900 Reisterstown Road, at Mount Wilson Lane on Sunday, October 9, at 10 am. Interment is Private. Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to GBMC Neonatal ICU, c/o GBMC Foundation, 6701 N. Charles St., Towson, MD 21204. In mourning at 2427 Still Forest Road (Rockland), Baltimore, MD 21208, Sunday immediately following services.

Every time I have to go to a new eye doctor, they never measure up to Dr. Billig. He would always know my eye history and listen to me and take such great care of my eyes. He was such a sweet man and a great doctor--I still miss him very much.

I just learned today of Dr. Billig's passing and my heart hurt knowing that this wonderful man had to suffer through this illness and lose his battle. I was his patient for over 25 years, and because of my own medical issues, I had not called to make any appointment with him until now. He was the most caring, patient and kind doctor and he is irreplaceable. I am older than he was and never expected to lose him as my eye doctor. My children were his patients too, and he never forgot the details of their eye concerns when we talked. When I went through financial hardship, he was there to reassure me that he would take care of my medical condition even if he didn't get a fee. I see I am not the only patient that was touched by his kindness and intelligence and great manner of treating his patients. He is missed by so many. To his family, it must be so hard to lose such a wonderful man, and it must be such a great loss. My prayers go to you in your life ahead. God Speed Dr. Billig. I will never forget you.

I am so saddened by this devastating news. I just learned, today, August 7, 2017, of Dr. Billig's passing. I am one of his former patients. He was my contact lens/eye glasses doctor for 25+ years. I called to make my annual appointment and was just taken aback. You have my deepest condolences. I shall cherish our times together where we shared our traveling experiences.

I just found out that Dr. Billig passed away. My heart and prayers go out to his family. He was my doctor for at least 20 years and always had kind words to say and seemed sincerely concerned when I had issues with my eyes. He will truly be missed.

Dr. Billing was a dear, dear kind man who was dearly loved by so many. Yesterday, I went to the office to pick up my contacts, and even though I knew he wasn't there, I still expected to see him walk out from his office. I miss him very much, and always will.

I just heard of Dr Billig's passing and am deeply saddened by the news. To his family: please know that he was appreciated by so many, including me. I have been going to Dr. Billig for over 22 years and my son and husband also saw him. I was referred to him by a co-worker and once I saw him, I never even considered going to anyone else, even though it took almost 45 minutes from our house to his office. He was a great, kind and thorough doctor. He was very personable and my family will miss him greatly. Condolences go out to his family.

Like others I only just learned of Dr. Billig's passing. I cannot understand why someone so gentle, kind and gifted is struck down so young. My deepest sympathies go out to his family whom he clearly cherished. I will truly miss his warm and patient care toward all of our children and myself. He was a very special man.

DR Billig was such a great man and doctor. He's been my eye doctor since he took over for DR Randall so many years ago. I brought my children and now my grandchild to him for his excellent and family style care he gave to his patients. I am so saddened by his becoming so ill and now with his passing. I miss him and the care our family received from him. I wish his family continued strength and my condolences.

Dr. Billig was the only doctor I have ever fully trusted. He fit me with my first contacts in the early 80s, and even when I moved out of the area, I only would trust my eyes to him. He was the true epitome of what a doctor should be - knowledgeable, caring, interactive on a personal level...he is simply irreplaceable. I hoped against hope that he would recover, but I found out today that he didn't. I felt like he was not only a doctor, but a friend, too. My heartfelt condolences to his family. May they know that he will be greatly missed!

Last night I realized that for the first time in almost forever, I will be going to get my eyes checked and NOT seeing Dr. Billig. I found out very late of his passing. He was a kind, funny and warm man who I always enjoyed seeing on a yearly basis. He will be missed deeply by everyone who had the honor to meet him!

If I grow up to be like Dr. Billig, then I'll be OK. He was my doctor since I was in middle school, maybe 30 years. When I was going through hard times financially, he helped me through it. His gentleness and kindness were always apparent. This is awful.

I too Looked forward to my annual appointment with Dr. Billig. He was a kind, trusting loving Doctor. He had a human interest. He always ask about my family and I of his. He was a very respectful man. It is very sad to here that he past away. He will be missed. A bright light is shining in heaven. My condolences to his family.

Today I called Ruxton Towers Eye Associates to make my annual exam appointment with Dr. Billig, and was told of his passing. I have been going to Dr. Billig for eye care since the early 1980s, and even when my insurance would change, I would still see him and pay out of pocket because I didn't trust my eyes to anyone else. He was kind, considerate, and always took good care of me. He never rushed me through my appointments, and shared stories of his lovely family. I am so saddened to hear that he is gone. Living in York, Pa., I just learned of Dr. Billig's passing. I am absolutely shocked.

To the family of Dr. Billig, may it help to make the mourning process a tad less difficult to know that we are all mourning with you. Dr. Billig was a friend and my family's optometrist for 20+ years. I am still shocked! We loved him and felt like we knew your lovely family. We looked forward to our appointments and like others, we talked about family, music and hobbies. I felt like I was visiting a friend during each session. Dr. Billig cared, he was an "old school" doctor who didn't rush me out of his office but patiently listened. Even when I shed tears over losses I experienced, he showed sympathy and kindness. He will be missed so much!!!! May the younger doctors read this message and learn how important it is to show such care for their patients/friends. Mrs. Billig, may you and Max & your family find comfort in memories and the Holy Bible. We share your loss!

My family is deeply sorry for your loss. I was a patient of Dr. Billig's for over 28 years. When I married, my husband began seeing him, and later our sons went to him as well. We treasured Dr. Billig, and after moving from the Towson area, we traveled from western Howard County for our appointments for 18 of those years. He was a terrifically kind man, and we appreciated him and trusted him greatly with our eye care. We will miss him.

I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Billig was my eye doctor for 20 years, and as each of my kids moved from glasses to contacts they started seeing him as well. We all loved him. He was always so caring and it was a pleasure to see him at each visit.

Dr Billig was my eye doctor for over 20 years(and my husband's as well). He was the best. I remember him talking about his son when he started elementary school, about his family, sometimes we chatted about our different vacations and travels. I waddled in through 2 pregnancies. He always asked about our girls, how they were doing, school. He cared. Eventually he took care of their vision checks as well. I feel like I lost a friend not just a doctor. Such a kind man and so young to say goodbye to. I am sad and very sorry for his family's loss. Our family's thoughts and prayers are with them.
