Richard Alter Obituary

Richard Mark Alter, passed away on Thursday, July 17th, 2025, at the age of 81. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie Alter (nee Kershman); devoted children, J. Zachariah (Rachel) Alter, Jamie (Derek) Deutsch and Kelly Alter (Fred Pope); beloved siblings, Mary (Andrew) Malinow and Kathy Gottschalk; adored grandchildren, Zoey (Ofer) Nahom, Noa and Benjamin Deutsch, Ethan and Anna Pope, Mila, Samantha and Hazel Alter. He was predeceased by his devoted parents, Lucille and Irving Alter.

Services at Sol Levinson's Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208, on Friday, July 18th at 1:30 PM. Interment Beth Tfiloh Cemetery, Windsor Mill Road. Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), PO Box 4224, New York, NY 10163 or Rosalie and Richard Alter Scholarship Fund, Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School, 3300 Old Court Road, Pikesville, MD 21208. The family will be in mourning at Beth Tfiloh Congregation, 3300 Old Court Rd, Pikesville, MD 21208 immediately following interment until 5:30 PM with a service at 6:30 PM. Continuing Sunday at Beth Tfiloh Congregation from 2:00-6:30 PM with a service at 6:45 PM.

So sorry for your loss. Richard was such a great person. Very personable. He had an eye for detail and was so kind and considerate.He will be missed. Richard made a difference in the world.
