I remember the day I met Rick just as if was yesterday. I knew his dad first, he was doing some painting on a claim I was handling. I needed some emergency service done on another claim and Dickie introduced me to Rick...and so our journey began. I could ALWAYS count on Rick, he definitely made my work life easier and fun. He was such a sweet caring soul. He would help anybody. I’m so grateful our paths crossed.

I will miss the wink of his eye
His "can do anything" attitude"
I will miss his entrance into a room-whether in a good
mood or bad
I will miss his kindness, his generosity
I will miss the way he stuck out his tongue when he was
concentrating-just like his Dad
I will miss his sincere interest in our lives
Rick was happy making others happy
He drove us crazy
He kept us on our toes
He was always in a hurry
But we will be lost without him
Rick is a big part of who I am today because of the
opportunities he has given me
I will miss him

Dear Gessner Family,

Rick was a truly authentic human being. There was no one else like him. You are lucky to have him in your family. When I went to a party, if Rick wasn't there, I was ALWAYS disappointed. He was literally a human laugh track to life. His laugh was the best.

Steve, your speech was beyond awesome. I felt proud to be your friend while you were speaking on behalf of your brother. Please live the rest of your life the way Rick did and the way you KNOW he would want you to live.

Dick and Ceil,
There are no words that I can convey to let you know how sorry I am for your loss. Having to say good-bye to someone you love is one of the most difficult things to do, but take comfort in knowing that as kind as your son was the Lord must have him in his heavenly home now. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers and if there is anything I can do, please call me.

Dear Crystal and the entire Gessner Family:

I was so shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of Rick. No one deserves this kind of pain and heartbreak. God really does work in mysterious ways.

Rick was one of the nicest, generous and kindest men I had ever met. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was truly an all around GREAT man whose life was too short on this earth.

His legacy and spirit will live on through his children and I hope you all have peace knowing he is in a better place where he will be constantly watching over all of you.

My deepest sympathies.

Take Care,
Kasey Hiltz

To the Gessner family, I am so sorry for your loss. Although we were never real close, growing up in the same neighborhood I always considered Rick a good friend. All the years of riding bikes, playing football/baseball in the Gessner yard, Bible trivia in the car, and goofing off at Fallston High. My Dad and I loved being invited to the Gessner house to watch the pay per view fights. Rick was a great guy and will be missed.

Thoughts and prayers from the Hatfield family. Hoping that the whole Gessner family will be able to find some solace in the fact that while Rick's time here was too short, he seemed to squeeze the last drop of life out of every minute. He was always fun to be around and obviously a great friend to a lot of us from Fallston

Dickie and Ceil, I struggle to find words to express the sorrow I feel for your loss. You were blessed with a wonderful son and you raised him to be a caring, thoughtful and loveable person. Rick would give anyone the shirt off his back and I count it a true blessing to have known Rick. I thank God for the opportunity to be one of his many friends. We met when Rick first started his business and instantly I knew he was a person of integrity. He will be greatly missed. May God bless you and your family.
With Much Love,
