Stephen J. Kormanik

On October 5th, 2021 at 2:15pm, Stephen J. Kormanik of Towson, affectionately known as "Coach," age 87, devoted husband of the late Sharan A. (Comen) Kormanik, known as "Lovey" passed away peacefully with his four children by his side. He is survived by his daughters, Janine Tucker and Heather Kormanik and sons, Craig Kormanik (his wife Brie) and Keith Kormanik. Coach has four wonderful grandchildren – Ryan (his wife Kirkland) and Devin Tucker & Kyle and Kelsey Kormanik. He is survived by his sister Helen and brother Johnny and a number of loving relatives and friends. He was predeceased in death by his parents, John and Agnes Kormanik and his sister, Agnes. He served with the Seventh Infantry Division in Korea in 1954 and 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1955 with the rank of corporal. He earned an MBA from Loyola College, now Loyola University and held executive positions in the Savings and Loan Industry including President of Progress Federal Savings and Loan in Baltimore. He earned first place honors in the American Savings and Loan Institute's national speech contest among thirty-six state champions in Miami Beach, Florida. He enjoyed coaching his children and their friends in baseball and softball and was so proud to see his children go on to their own endeavors including coaching positions at The Gilman School, Loyola College, Johns Hopkins University and with Coppermine Fieldhouse. In lieu of flowers, Coach would appreciate friends and loved ones consider making a donation to the Cromwell Valley Park where he and Lovey would often take their grandchildren - CromwellValleyPark.org. In the absence of a viewing, a celebration of life will be held for Coach in June.
