To everything there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under heaven:
a time to weep and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn and a time to dance;
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones together,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing...

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

"Aunt" Sylvia,
We are shocked and saddened to hear of your passing. Although we have not been in touch for sometime, you have never been far from our thoughts.

As you are rendered your final earthly honor, we want to convey to Ellen, Stuart, and families our heartfelt gratitude for your lifetime of devoted friendship that stretches back over 60 years.

Imprinted in my mind's eye are all those cheerful 4th of July and "Yom Tov" celebratory gatherings both at your home and ours: Your dear Nathan z"l and his "Brother" Jair z"l nursing drinks over a discussion of The Law or how to get a good red bell pepper grown in your lovely kitchen garden AND you and Irene z"l in animated conversation with other mutual friends and relatives. Always impressive I felt was hearing the great respect you had for our grandparents and how worthy they were of that respect. Your patience, graciousness and affection for us kids running all over the place were in hindsight most heartwarming.

It was then so that natural that you shared so many significant occasions with us. Most memorable for me was meeting you on Mt. Carmel in Haifa exactly 25 years ago this month for a brief tour of our home area and you joining us at Har Tzeon Congregation for our son's first Stateside Aliya to the Torah and Kiddush reception exactly 13 years ago. This is not to mention all the generous gifts and affection you bestowed on our kids when we would visit The States and you would drop by for a pleasant visit or go out for a lunch. Your good cheer was infectious and affectionate understanding and concern for us all and Irene was heartwarming.

We fervently hope that all who hold you near and dear will like us find some consolation with the knowledge that your memory always has been and will be for a blessing and inspiration.

Sincerely,
Oren and Anat Kaplan Kelly Family
