Thelma graduated from then Coppin State College and began her teaching career with Baltimore City Public Schools. Thelma moved to New York City and served until her retirement as the principal of the Nellie K. Parker Elementary School, Hackensack, NJ. The auditorium at the Nellie K. Parker Elementary School was named in honor of Thelma for the impact she made. Thelma donated her body to the State Anatomy Board to assist with research on the cause, treatment and possibly a cure for pulmonary hypertension. As Thelma wished, no services will be held.

Aunt Thelma I miss you so much. I thank God for the special relationship we had even though we were geographically separated. Our phone conversations and daily spiritual and encouraging messages will always be treasured by me. Continue to rest in peace until we are reunited in eternity with the Lord. Love you much. Margaret
