Mary L. (Matthews)
Roberts, 82
MILFORD - Mary L. (Matthews) Roberts went Home to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2023. She was at home surrounded by her family.
Mary was born in Georgetown, Delaware, daughter of the late George and Florence (Clifton) Matthews.

Mary worked for many years at Leggett in Milford and continued her career at the Milford store even after the store was renamed Peebles. She worked there until the age of 80. Mary loved her customers and after retiring would make daily trips to catch up with those former customers at Superfresh and later Redners. She also loved caring for others and worked as a caretaker for several friends and family members when they needed her.
Mary was also a faithful supporter of the Milford Church of the Nazarene. From its beginnings in the 1960's on Maple Avenue, to its current location, she supported the church in many ways until her passing including Missions president, Sunday school teacher and much more.
In addition to her parents; Mary was preceded in death by siblings, George Matthews, Stella Collison, Elizabeth Frampton, an infant sister; a great grandson, Travis Holston; and son-in-law, David Sapp.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Harold E. "Everett" Roberts; two children, Jeanne Sapp, and Marvin Roberts (Joy); three grandchildren, Nicole Holston (Bobby), Kyle Roberts (Erin), and Amy Carey (Jon); three great grandchildren, Parker, Adalynn and Ryder Carey; and five siblings, Hazel Smith, Joseph Matthews, Charles Matthews, Jerome Matthews and Carl Matthews; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
