William Conway Obituary

William (Bill) Franklyn Conway, age 49, of Lewes, DE, and formerly of Milford, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at UPenn Hospital in Philadelphia.
Born on January 2, 1975, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Frank and Sue (Matson) Conway. Bill graduated from McKean High School in 1993. He earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1997.
Bill led an amazing career at Century Engineering in Dover, DE for over 26 years where he was a Senior Vice President and in charge of the Delaware Transportation Division. He was the Project Manager and Engineer of Record for many state transportation projects throughout the state ranging from highways, intersections, railroads, to bike and pedestrian facilities. Three of his favorite projects were the SR1 South Frederica Project, the Georgetown to Lewes Rail to Trail Project, and the SR1 Dover Toll Plaza Highway Speed Lanes. He also enjoyed being involved outside of everyday work and he was a member of the Delaware Turf Board of Directors, former President of the American Society of Highway Engineers, and an Honorary Commander for the Civil Engineering Squadron at Dover AFB.
Bill's love for life extended far beyond his career. He enjoyed golfing, skiing, and traveling and was an Eagles and Phillies Fan. He embraced every opportunity to enjoy life and make lasting memories with his family and friends, whether it was at a sporting event or a Jimmy Buffett concert. Bill had an infectious laugh that made everyone smile and will never be forgotten. Above all, Bill was a devoted husband and father. There is no accomplishment he was more proud of than his three sons. They were his everything. His favorite place to be was on a sideline cheering them on. He never wavered in his ability to make sure his boys and Kristin were taken care of.
He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Kristin (Morgan) Conway; sons, Grant William Conway, Pierce Warren Conway, and Hayes Michael Conway; parents, Frank and Sue (Matson) Conway; brother, David (Katie) Conway, (Gavin & Colin); sister, Sarah (Paul) Parsoneault, (Paul Michael & Julia); father-in-law and mother- in-law, Vaughn & Dale Morgan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry & Michele Smith, (Anderson, Braddock, Channing & Delainey); and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family that all adored him. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, George & Marguerite (Stone) Conway and his maternal grandparents, W. Clifton & Eleanor (Wise) Matson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 1:00pm at Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church Avenue, Milford, DE, with visitation starting at 10am.
Anyone who wishes to honor Bill, may make a contribution to his children's future education made payable to Kristin Conway with 'Bill Conway Memorial Fund' in the memo and mailed to Faw Casson, CPA, 20245 Bay Vista Road, Unit 204, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, c/o Alison Houck Andrew.
