Timmie Banks Obituary

Timmie Levone Banks
Timmie Levone Banks was born on February 27, 1966, in Cambridge, Maryland to the late Lula Sampson Banks and Leonard L. Banks, Sr. Timmie was the youngest of seven children. He departed this life on October 11, 2021, in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by his family.
At a very young age, Timmie loved to visit his grandfather, Paul Sampson, daily to listen and learn from his wisdom. Sometimes he would sit all day playing checkers with his grandfather and his friends. When he was eight years old, He bought a used lawn mower from one of his grandfather's friends which needed repair. With the help of his older brother, Timmie learned how to repair small engines at an early age.
Timmie received his education in the public schools of Dorchester County, Maryland and graduated from Cambridge-South Dorchester High School in 1984. While in high school, he was a member of the National Honor Society and developed a fondness for the sport of tennis. Upon graduation from high school, Timmie attended University of Maryland Eastern Shore on an academic and tennis scholarship. Later Timmie enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was a Dental Hygiene Specialist. After leaving the Air Force he attended DeVry University in Columbus, Ohio.
In 2013, Timmie returned to his passion and what he enjoyed the most-repairing small engines and equipment. He wanted to be his own boss, so he started his own business. He owned a mobile repair van with the slogan on the side, "If I can't repair it, then throw it away". Being his own boss allowed him time to do some of the things he enjoyed: fishing, traveling, and spending time at the beach. Timmie especially enjoyed the times he spent fishing on the boat with his brother-in-law, Clifton Jones, they would return to tell stories of who was the better angler. There were other times he would leave Ohio on a whim just to get away in Ocean City, Maryland. On some of these trips to Maryland, Timmie would visit a special cousin, Gloria, who was like a sister to him. They would sit, chat, and cut up for hours at her house. He also enjoyed hearing the voices of his siblings Shirley, Tyrone, and Leonard as they caught up on the latest happenings in their lives and just to see how they were doing. Later in life, Timmie started to attend church again as he did when he was a child.
In addition to his parents; Timmie was preceded in death by his three sisters, Thelma Banks Cephas, Barbara Banks Pinder and Alva Banks. He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters whom he loved dearly, Tazia Banks of Marietta, Georgia and Tyra Banks of Columbus, Ohio. He loved to tell family members how much he loved his daughters and how proud he was of them. Timmie also leaves to cherish memories his sister, Shirley Banks Jones (Clifton) of Delmar, Maryland; brothers, Tyrone and Leonard Banks, Jr. of Cambridge, Maryland; special cousin, Gloria Bryan of Cambridge, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember him fondly.
