Kathy Stephens Obituary

Kathy Stephens

Born: November 15, 1943

Died: January 14, 2021

PRINCETON – Kathy Lynn Kasbeer, born to Marjorie Thomas Kasbeer and George Richard Kasbeer in Princeton, Illinois, went to Lincoln School and Logan Junior High School, where she won the eighth grade spelling award. She enjoyed singing in the Princeton High School chorus and in the Hampshire Colony Congregational Church choir. She attended Western Illinois University and Madison Business College before working as a receptionist at Champion Pneumatic Machinery Co. and then as a clerk-typist at Illinois State University. After attending Arizona State College (Flagstaff), she went to work in southern California, where a devastating lifelong illness struck her in 1966.

Kathy loved her family. The greatest joy of her life was her son, Christopher. Most of Kathy's life was spent in Princeton, where she delighted many faithful friends with her endless love and generosity. She had the best laugh!

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and parents.

She leaves behind her son, Christopher Stephens of Chicago; sister, Pamela Kasbeer (David) Henkel of Lake Forest, IL; brother, Richard Thomas (Susan) Kasbeer of Monterey, CA.; as well as three nieces; a nephew; and many cousins.

A private service and burial of ashes will be performed at a later date at Limerick Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gateway Services in Princeton.

Dear Pam and Dick,
We were so very sorry to hear about Kathy's passing! She was such a sweet and lovely person. When I was in Junior High and visiting your house, I can remember being so impressed by her and the fact that she was such a savvy high school student. In fact, I first learned of Elvis Presley through her. :-) In other words, I have fond memories of Kathy and your whole family.
With sympathy,
Lynne
